Clio 197 cup turbo

So a pretty easy conversion then.

I am seriously considering this as a "get it in and out in a weekend" conversion.

You probably could do it in e few days if you know exactly how to route everything etc.

I had an issue with the wiring, which kind of makes it easier. You retain the fan relay from the clio which means the plug for this in the fuse box is retained from the clio loom and you add it into the meg loom, removing what you Don't need from the meg loom and the only other wire on it is for the starter so you could swap it over aswell.

I followed the guide and it cost me a lot of time because I had to re-do the fan loom. The larger plug is easy you just pull the retainer out and swap the wires around.
The last plug (small) is a little different and needs to be cut and soldered.

Also none of my loom was labelled and there are similar plugs close to each other.

Best bet it to buy a meg and swap it all over yourself. You can even send off the ecu's before hand if you Don't need the 197 for a few days.

If you do decide to do it let me know and I'll help in anyway I can.

So I've spent a couple of nights, making a box for the air filter and getting things finished off!

Also made a duct for the intercooler.
Not happy with it but it'll do for now!

Mapping next Saturday.

I really like the idea of this, does the Megane gearbox sort the silly low gearing out too, always found it a chore for road use.

Haven't updated this in a while,

So Basically after nearly a 1000 miles of Loving my clio, I had a noisy tappet.

Strange so removed the Cam cover to find.. The cam had picked up in the head. Also the tappet was sticking in the head. Silicone had been used to fit the cam cover which goes rock hard with the heat from the turbo. There was plenty of oil about so looking to the silicone to be the culprit!!

So, the car is now laid up at work. I've picked up another engine with low compression on no.1 so hope the head is all good! But to be on the safe side I'm going to save up and forge it.

Plan is 8.5:1 compression
Using Iasa or Iapel pistons
Not sure what rods yet probably Catcam, king race bearings, arp rod and main bolts.

Not sure if I'll go with doing the head at the same time or later. See how we go!

Give Paul @RSTuning a shout. He has some offers on rods + pistons.

iapel are cheap in france, will see if i can find you a link to the place selling them but we got a set for my lads k4m and think there were about £250 ish.

rods from aliexpress, when you compare the chinese rods to about 80% of other rods they are the same!!

Got a set to go in my lads twiglet, know a few people personally who are running them and seen a few on Facebook and forums running them. Unless you are going for stupid big power they wouldn't put me off.

Spoke to a guy by me who was building an engine for someone who insisted on eagle rods and the guy said about Chinese rods but he wanted eagle so they arrived from America still in their original box with made in China on it!!
