Clio 197 cup turbo

Love the superlegs 👌🏼 I’d probably run the same wheels on mine but I reckon I’ll sell my Clio next year. Hardly use it, actually just put £30/week of petrol in it recently because I’m riding to work. I think the worn teeth on the friction plate is a common thing. When I start mine from cold it sounds like it’s got piston slap but the tapping actually comes from the gearbox. Been told it’s an issue when ruining the ttv/R26 setup.

Exactly this with the clutch.

Solid flywheel and solid clutch isn’t a good idea from the get go.

I do love the super’s hoping they’ll work on the 5.
 
Haven’t updated in a while, took it to the. K tec midlands dyno day mainly to see what was going on fuelling wise and I was right in thinking it was rich..5DA3FC01-5345-4241-AE11-712614A0CA2A.webp

Was down on power and in the 9’s so very rich.
 
So whilst I ponder what to do with it at the moment I thought I’d get it booked in the Chris and get it running safely.

It had an issue with N75 so switched whilst with Chris which made it better but it’s still not 100% possibly a turbo problem which I have been thinking may be the issue.

The one thing I was very happy about was my Intercooler, having made it I was unsure of it’s performance as being a cup there’s no ambient temperature reading in the car. But Chris said it never rose to 2 degrees above ambient where even an airtec can reach 30 degrees.

Car drives so much better not as much power as it had something I need to look into probably turbo, but the torque is almost there, Chris wasn’t 100% happy.

Now to figure out what’s next, fit the new T15 and leave it be or sort out the forged engine with the 20T??
 
good stuff, what was the cause of the over fueling, just the map? More power more problems, but if you have it fit the forged engine with 20t :D

I replaced the fuel pump for a walbro a while back, so thinking that the original wasn’t very good so Chris adjusted the fuelling to suit and the new pump had better fuel pressure causing it to over fuel as I’m running a std fuel rail at the moment.
 
So Managed to pick up some Cup Racer 8” Speedlines. Running 245/40 17 PS4’s front two tyres had never seen the road and the rears had 6mm on them.

They fit the car really well but slight scrubbing on the back means I need to go slightly smaller on the rear spacers.

Unfortunately as many of you know the Meglio is currently being Broken.

Another engine failure made me decide enough was enough and we had discussed it last time that it was the last time, if I didn’t have the cup car I’d have probably rebuilt it but I haven’t decided what to do with the shell as yet as it’s pretty much worthless bar a few body bits etc.

I’ve contemplated a couple of ideas including an S3 set up and retain the Haldex 4wd?? I’ve considered the Honda option as for some unknown reason people sell them done for mega bucks?? But I’d like to do something different if I do find the space to keep it and the funds to build something different.

I had afew issues with my old meglio and the thing is with them is that you’ve gotta go all the way out or nothing. I found that even though I had fuel return on mine it still needed a surge tank and external pump as if you ran owt less that half a tank you’d get loads of fuel surge plus, if you ran anything near 350bhp the ecu didn’t really like it and if you hit the limiter the ecu would cut the ignition for a few seconds. Told Chris about it and he said he tried to sort it but it’s just the ecu just throwing a wobbler!
 
So Not updated in a while. I sold all the good bits off the car and been sitting on the drive since..

A set of Honda mounts came up for sale so I bought them.. I’ve also just done a deal on a k20 engine/box.

I didn’t want to go the Honda route. But it’s just happened this way.. engine/box was cheaper than a 197 engine/box that had done a million miles..

Also bought another 197 to rebuild mine but it’s too good to break really just needs a Little work..
