Clio 197 cup turbo

Ive trapped the crank sensor wire on another car before when changing the clutch, easy done. Had to renew the plug and wiring😆

As for cylinder misfire, it will most likely be ign or poss stuck injector on the cylinder.

Injectors are quite easy to take in and out on these arent they... swap em around and see if the fault follows.

If it makes you feel any better I had a mare with the 9 engine again yesterday too :( fecking cars!

Just seems to be all I get at the moment..

Bloody Car!

I remember putting in 4 litres of motul gear competition into my r5gt, and when the 4th emptied i thought to myself this should only take 3 and a bit. To find I forgot to tighten up the inner CV cover.... Very silly and very expensive waste, we all make em
My first car I refilled the engine oil without putting the sump plug back in. All down my Grandads drive! He wasn't too pleased.

So it's running on 2 cylinders.

1 and 4 are not firing, that I can tell getting wet in the cylinders.

Changed the coils and plugs. No difference.

Can the injectors stick open? Odd that both are the same??

I'll try again with clip later.

1 and 4 are not firing,
Spark test it, are you getting a spark? Just pop the leads off and stick an old plug in you must have one somewhere :) If you have a spark then it has to be fuel, unplug the injectors and razz some easy start or brake cleaner in the inlet and see if it picks up on 4 when you do.

Somebody on Rsmegane had a similar issue recently of misfiring on 2 cylinders and the ecu had failed.

I would check wiring for continuity, comp test and if it checks out, assuming all ignition parts are good, ecu might be the next thing to check.

I did remember a mouse has chewed my thermostat housing bung a little. Haven't noticed anything else but i'll check the wiring to make sure there's nothing wrong.

It's strange as it was all ok running wise when I parked it. Just had the noisy tappets??

Will do a compression test, and see if I can check for spark then look at continuity to the upc from the coils.

I did buy new connectors for the coils which I haven't fitted yet.

Been ages since I updated this..

Chris at Beaniesport sorted the issues ended up having a full top end rebuild with valves re cut and new guides fitted.

However not long after this the clutch plate decided to loose its teeth!!

So I got a new CG motorsport plate made which is sprung and has stopped the chatter in the box.

But recently been having issues getting it up to temperature.

So checked it to find the clio thermostat was not closing. Quick flush of the system new stat fitted and cleaned out the header tank whilst I was at it and it gets up to temp nicely now, even feels better.

Have a slight leak from the turbo return which is my next job to do...

Hopefully all is OK from here, but I doubt it...

Just browsing back through this thread, and i have to say this looks fucking fantastic! If it had a sprint spoiler on it it would be perfect and I don't normally like the 197 (y)
I did originally have the sprint spoiler, but thought being a Cup it should have the Cup spoiler, if the Carbon one didn't come up I probably would still have the sprint on there..IMG-20190518-WA0000.webp

So bought a brand new turbo as this one smokes when you first drive it, not start it? Going to check the oil return too as that’s leaking since it went to Beaniesport.
