Clio 197 cup turbo

Thinking if getting a std meg engine to put in whilst I rebuild my engine so I can take my time with it.

Anybody know of any good engines for sale that are not too expensive?

So I've got an engine sorted. Picking one up from Chris at beaniesport.

They're going to check the bearings and cams for wear and fit a new belt.

This way I can fit it without worrying about the map and take my time with the engine.

Also got an R26 heatshield for the bulkhead which I'm pretty sure I've seen someone else fit pretty well.

So on Friday I managed to get the engine/box out gave both engines and the bay a quick blast with the steam cleaner which was out of diesel!!

So I put the 2 engines in the workshop and left it at that apart from offering up the R26 heatshield.

So on Saturday I finally managed to get back to the workshop at around 3pm.. wasn't really in the mood for It..

Made a big mess

Was planning on just swapping it all over without any paint involved..

But that didn't work out and I painted some bits.

I eventually got it together about 10pm by this point.

Then I pushed across the yard in the dark grabbed a couple of lights fitted the heatshield and bolted it in on the mounts.

It is in there..

As always when I work on the clio my van decides this isn't appropriate and causes me grief.. as it did last year when I had to put a rebuilt engine in, as anything Vw T5 is not the cheapest of van's to buy bits for.

Replaced the gearbox oil cooler last week, spent 2 hours trying to add an extra litre I oil as it wasn't right in drive, I noticed the intercooler is about to give out and I have to drive down to Essex at the weekend and being me instead of buying a std intercooler I bought a big one! 😁 just got to make it fit now... Before Saturday 🤦‍♂️

Solid progress, soon be up and running again. Not tempted to stick the head straight on the forged bottom end?

Want to srip it and make sure it's had nothing go through it. Then get the 197 head on and go from there.

It may not end up going back in? See what happens. I almost have enough bits to do another... or something else

Really fancy doing a mk1 megane maxi??

So this is how the car stands at the moment.

All back together, with front kw coilovers and compbrake top mounts, the new splitter fitted. Finally starting to look how I want it to.

Unfortunately, working late and rushing never pays off.

When fitting the clutch, I loctited the bolts, forgot the alignment tool and hard to search for it. Rushed it together, wasn't paying attention and fitted the pressure plate the wrong way round??

Very annoyed with myself.

really annoyed as I know which way it goes.
Your last few posts would beg to differ rofl.gif

We've all done it mate, one of the reasons I do a test start on most cars with the bare minimum connected before I put the cooling system and stuff back in. I think the first time we did that it was on @Andyquadra 's blue 2wd in about 2002! Was gutted as it was a swine to get the fecking lump back in as well.

Just another one of those things fighting me to get it done.

It's on the ramp ready for a long night ahead.

Not looking forward to it, looks like a pig of a job.

There's no water in it, debating pulling it back out??

So it's all back in and running, fitted the kw's on the rear too and cleaned up the discs a bit as it's been sat a year now.

Had a stupid issue where I trapped the crank sensor wire in between the gearbox without realising!!🤦‍♂️

Only issue I have now is it seems to be running on 2/3cylinders. And the bumper doesn't sit right on the n/s.

Yeah my Raider seems to be like that also on the N/S. I noticed if you pull the bumper forwards and up, it cures it.. not whipped the bumper off to get it sitting right yet.. but that time will come..

Great work in getting it all back together so quick.

mum sure you’ll figure out the running issue toot sweet

I remember putting in 4 litres of motul gear competition into my r5gt, and when the 4th emptied i thought to myself this should only take 3 and a bit. To find I forgot to tighten up the inner CV cover.... Very silly and very expensive waste, we all make em

I think it's to do with the rad support as it fixes to it at the bottom which can hold it back which pops the front out.

Never had an issue before but I'm guessing there's extra weight of the splitter on there now.
