Clio 197 cup turbo

Oh wow, even the cage has gone!

How does this differ from a road car shell without the cage or running gear?

Probably not much, being honest I'm not a fan of the bolt in cages anyway.

I do like the fact it's always been a Race car. It won't have any stonechip or sound deadening which will help.

It hasn't cost me much and it's the best place to start from being a Bare shell.

Trying to find as much info as possible at the moment.

So I saw this on ebay last night and my son decided to buy it. So we've got a trip to a small island near Southampton to pick it up. God knows where I'm going to put it. Needs a gearbox so will do a clutch and cambelt kit on it along with a service at the same time. I think it looks cool though.

I haven't updated much in the Clio as it's Broken again. So time for another rebuild with a few alterations. Clio Head to make it look even more Oem under the bonnet. On the outside I've purchased a carbon Cup spoiler.Screenshot_20200805-074831_Facebook.webpScreenshot_20200805-074844_Facebook.webp

Also I've got a new Reg no. For it and I've got a 200 front bumper which I'm not sure I'm going to fit yet.

Small update, still nothing happened with the engine as yet. Need to collect my cylinder head from @DaveL485

I have picked up a 20T turbo which I'll get rebuilt once I've test fitted it with the 197 inlets.

I have ordered a new 197 front splitter from Oreca, as I've wanted one for quite a while.

And this week I picked up a set of kw v1's with Compbrake top mounts. 20201214_200612.webp

Bits are coming together. I went to have a look at it the other day and it's looking sad for itself amongst the other dead cars at work! It's looking a little green if I'm honest!😭

Looks well. Hows the new engine build coming along?
All I've done is measure up the chamber volume in the 200 head.

I don't know the Deck height so can't work out the compression properly, got an idea though.

Need to get it out ASAP. The Car is buried at the bottom of the yard at work which doesn't help..

Have you looked into 197 throttle body with the meg ecu?

Going to mock up the head with the turbo etc to see if I need to modify it before it's rebuilt. Hoping I don't need to.

I believe Stage x have programmed a 197 throttle to the megane sagem s3000, so should be do able. They offered to program 250 throttle onto s3000, i may take that route in the future if its do able/stable.

197 head should go straight on the block, and 172 cams straight in just fit the dephaser and solenoid to suit, if you plan to use it or not. My mate has ran a 197 head on r26 block, i believe he used custom j.e pistons to get the comp where he wanted it.

You could also use 197 ecu and have vvt working, but wont have boost control, so will need a boost controller to suit.

Do I need to run the solenoid. Not planning on using it. Was going to make a blank for it. Have the dephaser pulley. Just got to get an exhaust pulley.

I'll message stage x and see what they say.

I know the meg throttle body isn't restrictive as Chris showed me whilst I was having it mapped. There was no difference between the two sensors, could be easier just to modify it to take the meg throttle body.

3 bar map sensors worth fitting?

I think you would need to modify the head oil galleries if blanking off the vvt solenoid. Ive simply got mine in place with the dephaser fitted to save any hassle with oiling the cams, vvt solenoid causes no harm sitting in the head disconnected, and no worries about any oiling issues. Also the bonus of having the option to use vvt in the future, i may look at using thr 250 ecu and throttle on mine eventually.

Cosmetics wise, you could machine a cap to go over the solenoid top.

Im going to be using the 250 3 bar map sensors.

Chris can map them in no bother, Its the better option for when the boost is getting up there with a hybrid turbo - compensation tables properly mapped in, incase of overboost etc. I believe stock map sensors are maxed out around 21/22 psi so your in dodgy ground if over that.

Thanks,

I remembered I have a pair of 3bar map sensors I bought a while ago.

I'll get a solenoid as it keeps it simple.. need an Exhaust pulley too as I'm guessing it's different to the Meg one.

Meg exhaust pulley will work fine with 172 cams, Thats all i run on mine with 250 head. Im even running a 172 dephaser as i dont plan on using the vvt any time soon, and it was new/free.
