03/53 Plate in Silver

Unlikely to get 12k in bits. Taipan bought the ph2 front end smashed vee and will only probably break-even with what he sold. Ok you can factor in front bonnet etc but still would struggle to get near 12k. Although the gearbox and engine he kept for the transplant is a big portion of why he wont make the money back from parts sold on. The key thing is would you be able to sell all the parts and at the extortionate 'V6 parts' prices? If you could then there is money to be made and if you can be bothered to dismantle the car apart and not damage parts along the way.

Yep, it was a 'tongue-in-cheek' comment. I stated a few years ago that if MKI values continued to linger around the £7k value then they'd keep getting written-off to minor knocks. I'm now thinking that I'd be pretty cheesed-off as an owner if I needed to pay outrageous fees for serviceable parts relative to the value of the car. Not surprised that one (needing work) went for a 'record low' the other day...

I have a high excess for that reason cos firstly gets my insurance down and stops it getting written-off unnecessarily for a minor knock. I would rather pay out myself, get repairs done and keep my vee on the road.
