In my R19 TSE 1.4, I have an oil leak which appears to be just at the front of the cylinder head gasket. When the oil level is maximum on the dip stick, the oil leaks a fair bit when the engine gets hot (which I clean up BTW after the car has been parked for a while) BUT I notice now after...
Just been looking through the engine build spec for my 21t and I am getting conflicting information regarding the combustion chamber volume in the head,
Now the little Renault data book indicates a Combustion chamber volume of about 58cc where's the build sheet for my engine says standard is...

HI FOLKS!
JUST CHANGED THE HEAD GASKET ON MY R21 SAVANNA 1.9 OIL BURNER AND HAVE A BIT OF PROBLEM:roll:
THE REASON I CHANGED THE HEAD GASKET IN THE FIRST PLACE WAS DUE TO THE COOLING SYSTEM PRESSURISING BEYOND BELEIF (TO THE EXTENT IT ACTUALLY CRACKED THE EXPANSION TANK) AND OIL POURING...

Good Morning all!
Today I put the head gasket in place, and started to follow the procedure on the Haynes manual.
I did:
Stage 1 - Angle-Tighten all bolts by 100degreese
Stage 2 - Wait at least 3 minutes
Stage 3 - Slacken fully bolts 1 and 2
Stage 4 - Tighten bolts 1 and 2 to a torque...
Anyone got any quick tips?
Never done it before, didn't find removing the valves particularly difficult, so is there anything i look out for when i re-fit them? Everything is getting de-coked whilst the head is in bits.
Anything i can do to 'refurb' the tappets?
hi folks,
got a bit of a problem with the van (have inserted an image to show off the NATO green custom spray)
Ive not busted a head gasket before so im not sure whats the issue: Sorry if this is a bit of an essay.
Its pissing down with rain, flooded, and ive been out driving round...
Hi guys,
Can someone just explain quickly an easy way to make sure the bottom end and head are in time after you've seperated them to change a headgasket?
The gearbox isn't bolted on and the cambelt is off.
Just need a way to make 100% sure it's all in time.
Cheers
Can you fit a valver /willy rocker cover onto a megane head? Winston said you cant due to breathing of the head but looking at Martin/craigs old white clio it look like it had a valver r/c on top of a megane head? I will be putting itb's on the head if that helps?
This is probably a really stupid question, but could i, theoretically, fit a 1.6/1.8/2.0 head from an 8v megane/laguna/clio to my 1.4e bottom end?
Just checking with you all, when you replace the headgasket should i put on some new head bolts as a rule i know you should, but i want to make sure thats all.......cheers DEANO:icon_confused:
Corny title..
Am i right in thinking the valver head and the 19 head is the same..
Im sure someone said there is a difference, but i cant remember..
thankyou...
My MK1 N reg clio has died a death, well the head gasket has gone on it and I have another car at the moment.
What would be the best way of getting rid of it? Can't sell parts off as its parked on street but it has MOT and Tax up in Feb. Whats the scrap value on these type of things or is it...
