YozzaSport Trophy flywheel and clutch???

I'm sure you can run standard management and conventional shifting but I think it will be a struggle to get to 265-275bhp....

The Sadev is designed to be flat shift - we struggled to get the shift timed to a few computerised milliseconds so a manual lift will never be right.

The timing issue is not how LONG the lift is, it's the POSITION of where it occurs. A fraction too early and the load isn't released off the engine, too late and the power is back in.

Realistically, you can't sort this with your brain - at least, Scott and I couldn't with ours...

I'd agree and only Mike can say how much grief he gave the 'box to last that long :) The turbo car is a bit of an oddity though as the power and torque are way over the design spec for that box - however, the power delivery is probably 'kinder' than a N/A car.

Fully approve of modding a car but I'm not sure what you are planning to achieve by doing the swap - it will last for ever if you toodle about but it wasn't designed for that and will still cost the best part of £10K to get a rough, industrial change and make a crap road car.

MikeT and I had a purpose, albeit very different, Tim is just plain mad. Just make sure that you are going in with your eyes open 'coz the V6 has nowhere near the engineering support that Mini/Escort/Vauxhall hybrid stuff has and we are consigned to one-off costs for everything.

I can see exactly what your saying and I agree fully. When I bought the vee, I bought it because I didnt want to take it apart and make it faster. However, I'm simply in love with the car and really do want it quicker. After developing my 16v Mini engine for he best part of 3 years, I'm a firm beleiver in replacing the weak links first. In my eyes, that wil be the clutch and gearbox for a standard vee. Although initially I will be more than happy with 270 brake, I will no boubt want it faster when it gets to this point hense I don't really want to worry about the 'box spitting the diff on the floor or the clutch slipping for 2 hours after a full bore start.

Best and cheapest mod is still to chuck out as much as you can.....There's a ton of weight to be saved.....you know this already though.

Slippery slope mate...

IMHO you could spend £10K better on the car (none of which you will get back!) with mods that would still make the car saleable in the future. Use a Phase 2 gearbox and a competition clutch and you'll not run into those problems, even on trackdays - but you'll still have money left for suspension, exhaust, chip etc.

The Sadev route is very specialised and part of a much bigger picture. Ask Tim, MikeT or me to fess up HOW much bigger

I like the sound of it. ;) At the end of the day, I will no doubt eventually want around 350-400bhp. I've never been interested in taking the typical scooby/evo and making one quicker route. I've always enjoyed going down a different route and creating something pretty much one off. A 1960 Mini with 600-700bhp/tonne was my first toy (useless as it was lol) and I suppose this will be my next toy. Its more of an excuse to get a 172 to bomb around in too. ;)

Hiya Tim

Yeah I've had a few things Cryogenically treated before. Worked ok too but I'd rather change the box on a vee. I suppose this is a case of wanting to upgrade myself from my Mini which was a bit of a missile to a heavily modded vee.
