Won't start any advise appreciated

Well where do I start.. Iv had one great week of vee ownership but last night she wouldn't start when I come to leave tescos.. Was running fine when I was on the way there.
The rac man said that the voltage wasnt right at the crank sensor? And thought it could be that or the immobiliser. But didnt tell me exactly what the problem was.
Earlier on in the night I went over to see a mate who is a bit of a car collector and he had a good nosey about, in the front mainly could I of nudged anything. I have red a few old posts but I thought I'd posts this up whilst I carry on searching.
The car will turn over but won't fire up also I can here the fuel pump kicking in so I don't think it's that. The immobiliser flashes when locked but when I turn the key it's on solidly, is that normal? I can't remember as iv not started the car many times!! And it's a phase 2 by the way.

Anyway I got the car recovered home around 12-30 last night after calling them at 7-40 they sent the wrong truck for a start, both the recovery drivers were friendly enough and spent more time looking at the car than doing anything. The car seemed to attract twice as much attention when it wouldn't go compared to normal.
Anyway ill carry on searching and if anyone has any advise it would be greatly appreciated
Many thanks
Dan

I feel your pain, mines in garage at present having a long list checked over to find the fault . I don't think its as simple as "new starter motor ", the fault could be a number of issues. :(

Iv had a good read of old posts and checked the simple things.. All 3 fuse boxes..
the immobiliser does seem to flash fast but stops flashing when I turn the key. Think ill get a mechanic I know to have a look as I think it could be the crankshaft sensor like the rac bloke suspected. Just wanted to check other things before purchasing anything... Hopefully yours gets sorted quickly without too much expense. On the bright side these cars still look great even when sat still!

The immobiliser light should go out when key in ignition as it should sense the chip in the key.
Have you tried spare key ?

Also try this as it's supposed to reset Imobiliser

Ensure the battery is charged. Unlock car on the key fob. Turn key in ignition to position 3 (ignition fully on but not at start) for 30s to 1 min. Return to fully off for 30s. Back to position 3 for 0s, to off for 30s. Then turn key straight to start position, engine should now start. This should reset the imobiliser

I will go and try that. I compared my immobiliser light to my mums meganè and hers is on whilst turning over then goes of once the engine is running. Yes i tried the spare key last night and again earlier.
Thanks for the help I'm sure it's nothing too serious.

The reset method unfortunately did not work. Whilst trying to start I blipped the throttle and I could hear something moving when I pushed it. Also iv got the high pitched noise, these noises weren't quite so apparent earlier as I had the engine cover on.

Yeah I will try that next he didn't say it was definetly that which is what made me ask. He said it could of been the immobiliser stopping it. I'm not a mechanic and can't remember his terminology! Ill get a mechanic to have a look as soon as I can.

Iv used a local mechanics code reader tonight but it wouldn't link to the car. I also run the cars diagnostic search and it came back with injection fault..

Could this still be the crank sensor or is it more serious? Sorry about the 100 questions but is like to get as close as I can to finding the problem so I dnt waste money changing unnecessary items cheers dan

This might be a bit of a red hearing as could be due to misfire/cuz you been cranking over and its not started. , look up dash reset on here also do an immobiliser reset, should be same as clio 172/182 look it up on google.
Possibility it could be coil pack down on no 1.
You really need to get diagnostics run on it otherwise it's a lot harder to get to the cause

we were at Ashover show last year when Mossy's car would not start, he pulled the carpet from the rear left of the car (near the tool kit) pulled the fuses and then replaced them, and it started,
may not work but worth a try !!!

Thanks for the advise mick but unfortunately that didnt work for me.
Iv changed the crankshaft sensor today and that hasn't helped either.
Iv had a couple of local people look at the cars with various obd's and none of them have been able to link to the ecu. Has anybody else had a similar problem to this?
One of the blokes had a bit of a look around the car when he couldn't connect and pulled the fuel pipe of and thought that was fine but I can't hear the noise it was making when I turned the key.
Thanks guys hopefully get it sorted soon.

Have you tried disconnecting battery to reset all ECU, s make sure you have radio code b4 doing this though.

I disconnected the battery for around 5 mins.. Is this long enough? I'm going to make some phone calls tomorrow about getting an electrician to look at it. Need to get it working again!

It's no help but mine randomly wouldn't start a few days ago after letting it sit for an hour after parking up.

All I had was a faint click, the battery was fine as the lights didn't dim ect.

I took the keys out of the ignition and kept pressing the alarm fob unlocking and licking the doors over and over as I thought it could be an immobiliser prob, after the 6th or 7th time I heard a noise like the drivers central locking motor but a lot louder, I tried the key and it started instantly.

I'm dreading it coming back and staying.

The fact you cannot connect to the ECM says to me its either a power, earth or Canbus fault so start looking for broken wires and check condition of main feeds to the ECM
Fuses/relays also

Oh man, I'm really feeling for you. It sounds like a simple problem but there's obviously an issue diagnosing it :(

Really hope it's sorted soon and that you get back to enjoying the experience of owning her :)

Well hopefully yours doesn't play up anymore mate.
It does sound like it could be a loose wire somewhere and hopefully I can find someone who will have a look.
Still making phone calls about finding a electrician but no one i know seems to be able to recommend one and I'm not a fan of plucking numbers out of the phone book.
Yes ed I hope it's gonna be a quick and easy fix too. Sure it will be sorted soon.
Cheers guys.

Did you get anywhere with this? sound like as aleady said, no power to ecu but that can still be an alarm fault. i have had similar probs with not being able to communicate but have always got through with a solus machine, with these you can back feed the ecu through the plug using the fag lighter socket.
I do get down your way so if you are strugglin come back to me.
