Wont go into gear ?? ...

It wont be an engine out job if its the clutch hydraulics mate, but it will be if its the clutch. Sounds like the hydraulics though.

There is a good 10 - 12mm of movement on the slave piston to the clutch fork which tells me the hydrualics should hopefully be fine ... i'll look into getting the clutch inspected firstly ..

I have a very bad feeling the famous Ph3 hydralics have had their day ... it was always my worst fear of owning this car tbh .... maybe look into trying to find a set of ph1 hydralics now ....

Dave does reckon its an engine out job no matter whats wrong with it :(

It's either-

Hydraulics have air in them (NOT engine out)

Clutch fork pivot has broken through the fork body (Engine (or box) out)

Clutch mechanism faulty (Highly unlikely as it's working but with a low bite point) and I believe the new engines from Renault back then came with flywheel and clutch attached. (Engine (or box) out)

Roddy was not able to get the car in gear with the engine running, but was able to with the engine off.
I then asked him to put it in gear with the clutch down and start it, which it did without moving the car, so the clutch is actuating but not enough to disengage the friction plate properly.
I got him to pump the pedal and it did then go into gear which suggests hydraulic issues.

Go back to it mate and pump the pedal up and down again 15-20 times see if it goes into gear again.

Its possible you have a small leak in the hydraulic line and there is no fluid left in the clutch reservoir to keep the system topped up....if you can get to it pull the small plastic pot off the bulkhead behind the Brake Master, open it and see if there's anything in it.

Does the pedal return right back to the top?

Have you tried to look down the front of the fork yet?

Dave, i cant even see the small plastic pot behind the reservior, never mind take it off !!! ....

The small piston that rests againsts the clutch fork pivot is sticking out approx 10mm with the engine on or off, is this normal ?
Also i can push the fork in and out by hand very easily, again, is this normal ? ...

The clutch pedal is returning back to the top but its very light when pressing it down, almost no resistance !!!

Your hydraulics are dying.

Try this. Push the piston/bar back into the slave as far as you can. Jam something over the end of the bar, like a socket or something, effectively spacing the bar back from the fork. Let the piston back out with the 'spacer' to touch the fork and take up the slack. Make sure it's located in the dish then give it a shot.

DO NOT remove the bar at any point. Letting the hydraulic piston come all the way to the front will let air in, and then you're fooked.

Just took the car round to a lock up i have rented from the council ..... it took ages of pumping the pedal to get it into 2nd gear !! .. so as Dave says its looking like the hydralics have gone ! ..

She could be sitting in the lock up for a while im afraid until i decide whats gonna happen ... i cant fix it and im assuming my local garage could'nt fix it if it is the hydralics ???? ..

What happens when you have started the car, then try and put in the clutch and stick it into 1st gear?

With the engine running she will not go into any gear at all, but pump the pedal approx 300 times and it will eventually go ! ..
It will go into gear with the engine switched off, but when you go to start it she jumps 2 feet forward !!! ...

Hydraulics or second dome on fork has died, but if pumping works it's hydraulics. Got to be.

Give it a trip down here lol. Bond drove 100 miles with no clutch to have his done
