Winter re-spec

My car is almost certainly out of the running, as Scott is working on some 'additions', but I would also be an interested spectator! For the noise alone :approve:

Will try and get a rough idea of costs as there are a couple of RR options. If there's not enough interest the other option for those that are keen is we could tag along to a PH SRR session. Not sure when the next one is but the variety of metal that turns out is great. Last one I went to was 'won' by a Saleen Mustang with 563rwhp [smilie=icon_eek.gif]. The sound of that thing scrambled my brain. Hence the V8 WANT. lol

I'd be keen to tag along to a SRR event, would just spectate this time though :-)

Waiting for the next PH Sunday Service to be announced; would be good to get a big V6 contingent!

Tim

Only thing is prepare to be disappointed by the results!! It would be nice if the baselines were 230 and 255 but struggle to get near that as standard or even with a couple of upgrades.

All the ones we have worked on at work seem to throw all different numbers, mine was rubbish it ran 238 stock where as some have run 255 on the nose they are all so different its odd

Similar with 182s as well apparently. There were some 'strong' engines and some weedier ones. Guess it was down to which Jean Pierre put them together and how close to heure du vin it was!

Funny how the thread title referred to Winter 2010 and will now most likely relate to Winter 2013 as well! :) Ah the joys of the vee modifier...

Small update: Engine is now fully on show and all the plastic accoutrements removed. Will get the bodyshop to spray the engine bay and B/C pillars, inner roof etc when I get to the paint stage.

Few other bells and whistles in progress - harnesses, ph2 cabin carpet, fog blanking plates, lexan, straight through rear silencer - but nothing major.

Mapping still needs to be sorted, as I really need a more bespoke solution to support the ITB end game.

It's fun owning a car you never see. My neighbours no doubt think I'm some sort of mental; constantly talking about a car they've never ever seen.

LOL, at your last comment........but, seriously, you need to get the Vee back on the road.
Agreed!! :)

We'll get there. Perfection takes time ;)
It does, but think of the years you are wasting away by not driving your Vee.......IMO life is too short. :race:

Are you going bespoke throttle bodies then Jon and still keeping the fly by wire throttle? Will be great to see a nice setup working if you do. I cant understand why there arent more about. There are plenty of management options out there aswell as good itb set ups. Only things that arent off the shelf are inlet manifolds to bolt them on to.

Well wasting is a subjective term, but I agree it's a shame I haven't been able to drive the car more. Having said that I guess the majority of vees endure a similar existance, though for different reasons (which I personally don't understand). Rest assured though, it'll go back to being treated like a ginger step-child once it's back in my hands :approve:

I haven't given it a great deal of thought at this stage Brett, as it will be the very last thing I do I imagine, but the aim would be to keep things as simple and effective as possible - which includes doing an ITB build of the ph1 engine, if it's easier/more effective.

I imagine when you can get c100bhp more with FI for similar £ outlays (ball park) the temptation of the extra power takes over. The look and sound of ITBs has always done it for me personally; now everything is on show, even more so!

Jon, reading through my post above, it may come across as rather condescending, so apologies if it came across that way - it wasn't my intention.

Anyway, look forward to seeing the finished article soon. :approve:

I know exactly what you mean. Nothing looks cooler in my opinion. As ive said in my own thread its definatly something i will revert back to once the audi lump has served its purpose.
