williams vs impreza..

would have to agree, the only thing that does it for the Clio is the rare factor and colour scheme

So Jon, What's the out come of the meet up???

IMO the Clio Williams is class, Nothing wrong with the Scooby but I'd personally prefer the Clio, Retro FTW

update time.........

I set off @ 9am to meet the clio owner @ Birdlip (just off the M5) I got as far as Tidworth & Chris rang.....the clio had developed a "top-end" rattle - he thinks it's the tappets - so the meet up was cancelled until he gets the Clio fixed - hopefully we'll catch up next weekend....

Off course i should take this as a "sign" and look for something else...but i won't as Chris seems 100% genuine..

As for Dave having no comment regarding the Clio - i was amazed until i read his words of wisdom further down the thread..........I agree, the impreza is souless - but the Clio Williams is not chav - a "boyed up/max power" 16v is chav..the Williams is a classic, even if it's blue with gold wheels...according to Renault the one i'm looking at was the first imported to the UK & was used by Renault at car/trade shows - hence the N3 WLM number plate..

16v's are nice as well, I wouldn't call them chav, after all the williams isn't a great deal more than a 16v clio with a wider front track and a diesel crank.

A mint 16v is a nice car, but when the owner adds anything remotely "max-powered" is just ruins the cars image.....:icon_sad::icon_sad:

And gold rims.

Coz it iz mint, innit, BO!

Plus every other blue Renault with a chav behind the wheel has williams badges splattered on it lol.

Again, all IMO, Jonno whatever you decide I hope you are happy, it's your car and your opinion is the only one that matters :icon_biggrin:

Meh. Just buy a Daewoo Jon. My wife's 'woo has plenty of character. :icon_lol:

The Williams owner has had the car checked out & the "tappet" noise infact a loose heatshield - rattling/knocking against the exhaust.......so we're back on for this Saturday....let's hope he makes it this time....

You'll have to show it to me over a pint Mr C :icon_biggrin:

Are we ever gonna have that pint...???

Mrs Cooke is about to show my 2nd daughter the cold light of day so we'd better make it snappy or make it a weekend "family" affair.........

You still living near the Seat garage, just past the roundabout..??/

Meeting's back on for tomorrow @ 2pm - hopefully by 3pm i'll be the owner of a williams.......pictures & road test report to follow...fingers crossed...:icon_biggrin:

Didn't get the Williams - it was mint on the outside, but the interior was a tad shabby & the drive was more than wooly....the steering had about 2-3 inches of play - it was terrible (new steering rack req'd) the gearbox was seriously loose & just finding the gears was interesting (would need a re-build) - it did go well though, but it was no impreza/21 turbo.....the window rubbers were shagged, the boot carpet was covered in paint, the sunroof had been badly sealed with silicone....etc......

After the test drive i politely told the owner that he would be getting the better deal & that if i was a cash buyer i'd offer him ?1500 - ?2000 tops....
so the imoreza is now parked back in the garage whilst i have a think about what to do next......:icon_confused::icon_confused:

Shame really as it did look good......gonna have a look round for a 172 sport or maybe another 21......
