5 GT Turbo White smoke on gear change

Hi all,

the project pushes on but there’s a bit of a mysterious white smoking issue at the moment

white smoke is blowing out on gear change or when you let off the throttle and a tiny amount on tick over

was believed to be the turbo charger but after having the oil seals inspected it’s not thought to be that

compression test has been done and it’s all good across the 4 cylinders and head gasket is fine ?

the smoke is defineatly white as well,it’s bee suggested it’s the oil stem seals or valve guides but I would have though the compression would be done if it was that ?

many thoughts would be great

cheers

Will need to rip everything out as there’s just weird lines running all over the place

my bad earlier the line isn’t actually coming out of the black lobster on top of the carb it’s belonged into the carb so one line form the lobster and the other from the carb

*unrelated question

in one of your pictures It looks like there’s a wire with a ring terminal being earthed to the drivers side suspension turret, what’s that connected to? that’s not standard as far as I’m aware

It goes from the turret to the engine so it’s a ground massive thick braided thing.

there’s so much piping hooked up places from what I gather it normally wouldn’t be it’a a bit of a nightmare to get my head around plus I’m new to R5s as well

Yep, it’s in the wrong place then.

There’s a lot going on in the engine bay but once it’s all in the right place it all tucks up nicely.

At this point it’s probably best to take as much out as possible and try and get it right as it will make problem solving a lot easier in the long run.

Any questions just ask away and as they say a picture speaks a thousand words, put plenty up and it will help people guide you in the right direction to where things go
