Which RS200 has what ? Help

I'm looking for a new daily driver.....well not daily,as i have a van, but No.1 car rather than the old shitters.

On the list is a Clio RS200 EDC,
pro's being 5 doors,
cheapish tax/insurance,
not too thirsty,
plenty go go,
looks obvs,
in the right colour/wheel colour combo don't stand out too much,
auto will help my notchy knees
But, what is what?
I know what a trophy is, what denotes a cup chassis? ......is it the 18 inchers?, what options are there? what matters and what doesn't ? What's a LUX got that a ......not LUX hasn't?.....why isn't there a blue one?...
I'm sure someone on here will have the answers and more, inc info about recalls?....think there was a petrol pipe?
I'm struggling to find a car to replace the old slagster that i really like, test driven Meg gt line DCi's but most seem ratty and high on miles and good sellers so deals are tight, Slaggy coupes have all been to mars and back......Meg 250's i find a bit small in the rear inside, .....and proper misters car,.................so i keep coming back to an RS200?
Or i'll end up keeping a 150 quid trade in value slaggy......................

@Ricardo probably knows a bit as he owned one...

200 has Climate Control, reach adjustable steering wheel, soft touch dash, cruise control, speed limiter, keyless entry/ignition, automatic headlights and automatic wipers.
200 Cup has stiffer suspension, red brake calipers and a faster steering rack. Although all this can be spec'd on the 200 for an extra £400.

Morning, OK first things first, are we talking just purely the pre facelift 200 EDC? Built between 2013 and 2016. They also made a 220 Trophy pre facelift, but to save me waffling on between pre facelift and facelift models which came out late 2016 I'll wait to see which one you're referring to.

I'm looking at 10kish car, poss up to 12k if it made obvious sense to push on a bit, so we're looking at early cars, although I've no problem with waffle as its all useful info.

Thanks for your time and interest.

No problem, 10k will get you into a 13-14 plate EDC easily. In fact I know of a flame red 200 LUX with proven modifications for around the 11k mark.

With the 200 EDC there's really only one route to take when modifying, and thankfully it's all tried and tested. They're 5 years old now and I've not heard of one that's given any cause for concern in the reliability department.

The main difference in the 200 EDC is the optional LUX pack. Standard trim gives you 17 Tibor wheels, the LUX pack gives you gloss black 18" wheels, red calipers all round, and a drop of 3mm in ride height with 15% stiffer springs and dampers.

Interior option is to go full leather and then heated on those, std 200 has option on Auto climate. If you ticked LUX pack that comes as standard.

Tried and tested mod route:

I say this as you can't really deviate off this way.

Either change to an ITG induction kit or aftermarket panel filter

Symposer or resonator pipe delete mod, so removing the hose and capping each end with 32mm blanking plugs.

Your map, RS Tuning really are the leaders in mapping these Clios. It really unleashes decent power and even more so torque. Mine pre map was 189bhp and 177ft/lbs torque, after mapping it was 226bhp and IIRC about 240 torque. It brings the car alive, the chassis can more than cope with the power.

And with that it's the Pro Alloy FMIC, if you're thinking of doing trackdays on the regular then this is definitely your next step. We need to keep the charge temps in check.

Exterior, and this is my opinion... Lowering springs, Cooksport to be exact. The factory ride height especially up front looks dire. Cooksport have developed these springs to not only give you a decent dropped look, but the progressive nature of the spring lends itself to enhance the chassis out on the road and track.

Like I said this is the std route people go when modifying these Clios, it's proven to work and work well. I think I've covered the basics but if you have any questions just tag me in.

So does a LUX come with cup suspenders then?......but you can spec a non lux with cup suspenders?..........and if you go down the spring change route.....thats the only difference in the suspension, or do dampers differ?
I only want know if paying extra for a certain spec is necessary for my use.......and indeed thinking I've got a good buy , and then everyone sniggers into their tea....cos bozzo 'ere's bought the crap ass one!
Not looking to mod, well not just yet, I've got other stuff to jellify my brain when required, i just like them, and with five doors i can get my grown up bin lids in, on the rare occasion they require me...........

The LUX pack has the stiffer dampers and springs, as far as I know a bog std 200 is just that, std 17s with silver calipers and dampers 15% softer. I can't say whether I'd notice the difference I only had the LUX, but I bought the Cooksports primarily to enhance the stance of the Clio. The bonus was the progressive feel of them on track.

No one's gonna snigger, they're a great car out the box. Every mod I've mentioned will only enhance the experience. What I will say is that the 13 plates have the original gearbox software, get it updated. That alone changes the characteristics of the drive big time, its night and day different. I had it done on mine at a cost of £48 at Renault.
