Which battery?

Got the car out today from it's winter covers and an MOT and tax straight off. Battery is shot so will get one in the morning. Anybody know what type it is, 072, 063 etc as Halfords probably don't have it listed. I know it's 65AH and 720 cranking(I think) but wondered if anyone has the type designation?

Word of warning. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON A BOSCH ONE! I know someone who stickers them up. He sits there with batches of stickers and a ware house full of palleted batteries. Once he runs out of bosch stickers on go the considerably cheaper brand stickers!

i was just about to post 'buy a bosch silver battery as mine has been excellent'

your post could relate to many things available today but i would rather have the one with the better brand name, call me synical but you pays yer money??

Whos to say a Sony HD TV isnt the same as a mikoni from aldi or lidl but i know what i would rather have

and plus the bosch batteries are silver plastic, no other battery brand uses that so it must be more than stickers your mate has to change??

Silver batteries? I bought a cheapy from a local motor factor a few weeks back and it was silver lol. If you like your brand and and don't mind paying 60 odd quid more for a 2p sticker that's up to you fella, doesn't bother me in the slightest. Think what you like but its fact. He works at Norbert Dentressangle in lodge farm Northampton. He's got tones of Bosch, vata and other stickers which he's told to swap over on demand. The motor trade is a bit different to your Sony Bravia / Lidle situation. What you pay isn't always what you get. Just thought I'd save someone a few pennies so they get what they pay for.

fair enough then brett but i bought a fairly heavy duty bosch silver for not much more than £100. my clio will sit unmoved for long periods of time so i wanted a 'good quality' battery. now you have said what you have said i may rethink that in the future so thanks for the tip!!

as for the tv comment, you would be surprised about the internals of a mikoni tv, not very different to your sony bravias!!! ;)

Bought a 063 Halfords Calcium battery today. It's smaller tan the one that came off and does mean the you have to stretch the leads a little to get gem to fit. Not sure it is ideal but it it's the one listed in the Halfords book so went with it.

I'm a silver Bosch man too ! the S5 is almost identical power and size to the OEM battery but I bought it for the cool looks in the silver bay ! I agree that if left for a while , it will not start the car (or is a very unhealthy, slow start) but on a daily basis it is fine ... Incidentally ,The same one also fits on the 172/182 perfectly .
The battery tray could accompany a far larger battery , with minimal alteration , and if you chose a "tailored" super heavy duty Marine battery , you could add several Kilos of weight to the front end !

The perfect battery is available now on Ebay ... £46 (Ithink , sorry no link ... someone help) ... It is the Genuine Renault OEM battery for the Clio V6 and I suspect would cost 3 times this amount from Renault !
