Right then gentlemen, the time has come to replace all 4 tyres and as i would like the change, i am asking what tyres would you chaps recommend???

I am interested in the Continental Sport Contact 3's and also the Goodyear Eagle F1's

Does anyone else have these on their vee and what do you have to say about them??

I have conti-sport 2's on my Vee as they were a good deal at the time (2 years ago) though I did want, but couldn't get hold of, the 3's - they seemed to have very good write-ups for dry and wet weather handling, and I did a fair bit of research for good wet weather performance. The 2's I have found are fine though.

I have also used Goodyear Eagle GSD 2&3 tyres (on other cars) and find them excellent and progressive anjd grippy in the wet. I have no experience with the Goodyer tyres on a Vee though. Some members have them on though so hopefully you will get some feedback.

Conti's and Eagle's are arguably better all-rounders, though the Pilot Sport are superior dry-weather tyres...
...depends how you use your Vee, I guess.
It's difficult to source any other tyre which meets OEM dimensions, which is a little annoying too.

About a year ago I changed the back Michelin PS2's to Goodyears Eagle F1's. After 15000 km I now have to replace them and I'm going back to the Michelins !
Allthough more expensive, the Michelins last longer, are less noisy and lower the fuel consumption (who cares in a Vee). I also found that the Eagles suffer from "blocking", after standing for a day they developped a flat spot that shakes the whole car until your teeth have fallen out... (5 to 10 minutes). Especially on cold days. I also wasn't too happy with the "better" road handling in wet conditions... It costed me my front bumper [smilie=icon_cry.gif]
Also in the dry it gave me less confidence at high speeds. The dutch ANWB and german ADAC tested high performance tires some years ago http://www.anwb.nl/binaries/pdf/auto/te ... 623995.pdf , maybe it is useful...

i have the phase 1.

the standard rear size is 235/45/17 but wil 245 also fit without wheel spacers ???

thanks for the info.

I'll be sticking my third set of Michelin Pilot Sport 2's on the rear bright and early tomorrow! Interestingly my first set lasted forever (like 18k miles) and my second set only 10k-ish! They cost a bit but they were a design point for the car hence why I've replaced like with like.

This set have worn reasonably evenly apart from scrubbing out on the outside shoulders. I did have it tracked last time when I did all 4 tyres, but the rear set up was never perfect because they ran out of time and after getting the toe right, the camber was strangely slightly out on one side. Always meant to get it redone but then I'm a lazy arse. Planning to take it down to a place that Mike at Rentech has recommended for proper set up once I've got the new rear boots on.
