It's cos they are interference fit. The ones we have in the shop are the loose-fit split pin type so they will never stick in.

My pet peeve is the gearbox mounts on a 21 Turbo. They are double studded rubber blocks

When you undo the nut off the bottom stud and push the 'box up the box hits the floor before the stud lifts out. Same if you get the top nut off, the box hits the floor before you lift the gearbox leg off the mount. The legs are bolted to the gearbox and the top bolts are all but inaccessible, the best way to lift the box out is to drop the back of the subframe down - but as we all well know these bolts are very prone to seizing up both the captive nuts which then break the cages, and seizing into the bush collar.
The most frustrating part of it is that once disassembled, you can cut the studs down so you CAN lift the box in and out without dropping the subframe or removing the gearbox legs with absolutely no detremental effect. The studs are still long enough to fit through the nylocks all the way with threads to spare on top.

Does Dirt count...?

My second biggest peeve is when that simple job, turns out to be a complete utter f**king knob jockey............ "I only went to empty the ashtray and ended up re-building the gearbox and grafting on a new rear qtr panel... :grin.gif:

But BY FAR AND WITH SOME MARGIN, it's got to be exhausts.... THE worst job in the world as a home mechanic!!! You can never get the car high enough to be comfortable to work so you're struggling
