What have you done to your Retro Renault today?

Sunroof re stripped and sealed, skirts off and full sill stripped down and waxoiled...arch and a couple of blisters rubbed down ready for painting tomorrow, rear lights removed and cleaned and sealed, door inner seals silicone shut, all rubbers sealed. Now for the door outers to be removed and cleaned and hammered........they are the pits as let the car down. gonna have to thieve some lol Sc

Indeed...working round all possibilities for water ingress. The outer window rubbers are swollen in various places and are shite.Clean and hammer/heat for the time being. Goin back to my friend in Belgium wi Avi Club to try source em abroad...grrr sc

Yeah the heat and beat is what i've done, beat them into shape until all the powder crap stops falling out then hairdryer the sagy rubber bits, it's not ideal but it makes them much better

Gave the supervan a "damn good thrashing" last night.left Newbridge in Kildare and gave it socks on the back roads and down the Wicklow gap and into rathdrum and home.beat the satnav ETA by 15 mins. Handy having tools in the back for ballast.

Repaired the exhaust on The Bishop, cleaned it out, new mats, new door card, new speaker grille and added extra power outlets along with a change tray lamp.

Sanded the bonnet of the Chamade getting ready for paint

Put the supervan through the test, only failed on the 2 front flexi hoses.not bad considering i never checked it over beforehand, only topped up the fluids and adjusted the rear brake shoes.

I haven't seen it since yesterday, I went over and took it to the hairdresser.

Its at my old house as it won't go up the drive at the new house as its too low. I need to either leave it at my garage or figure out some ramp type thing so I can go up the drive.

First world problems and all that.

I still have the 2 brand new tyres sitting waiting to go on as well.

Ohh I did add it to my trade insurance though.

120,000 Mile service, replaced the gas struts under the roof cover and a bracket behind the front bumper.

Looks like the driver's window glass is parting company with the regulator. Anyone got a spare?

The glass is probably the plastic guide at the top of the window being broken. Can get them new from renault.

I got mine onto my drive finally, theres a definate knack to it.

My bonnet cable needs replaced. the outers corroded so its no too short. I have spaced it with a cable tie. I wonder how many years that will be a temp fix for.

Still to do the tyres.

Turns out there was more going on with the exhaust than a torn hanger ( these seem to be a service item!). Crawled under the car with the misses blipping the gas. Rattle is coming from the cat :(

Fortunately, I have a spare ( another story). Might replace the down pipe at the same time, if I can pick one up somewhere soon.

What's left of the heatshield was loose, but I tightened the wire that holds it together on Saturday. I believed that, and the torn hanger, were the cause of the rattle that started last week.

After last night's investigation, I'm sure it's the cat. Since I have a spare, I intend to swap it out, just to check. I just need to pick up some fresh bolts and a plug for the lambda sensor hole, as I doubt the current ones will survive the operation.

On the subject of exhausts, do all RSI's have a single bore front pipe, with a tap for the lambda and a heatshield, or is it just mine. The suppliers I've spoke with say it should be a pair of pipes, with the lambda fitted to a tap in the cat.

Rear spoiler removed rubbed and painted as rear edge had been used as a handle over the years and was well chipped. Now working my way round the wheels on a DIY re furb. Have my doubts how good this u-tube guide may be but worth a bash. Re did rear arch but paint still coming up darker. struggling to get it to match ahhhhrg Regs Sc

Fitted new front brake flexi hoses on the supervan.also swapped over the front discs from the ratnault onto it as its own were worn badly.sanded the pads on the concrete floor of the shed to get them back flat.just need to bleed them out now with the help of my beautiful assistant.

Drove all the way home from Goodwood with the top down. Grinning all the way..

Not so happy to find that I had somehow managed to drop a piece of interior trim in the gutter where I park the car, and it had been crushed. The list just keeps growing.
