.....as featured in the 1998 UK Sales Brochure: LINK

Is this the same as the one shown at the 1998 Paris Motor Show?

What engine is it running, as featured in the Sales Brochure?

Those are two of the four press pack photos for the launch at Paris (21st September '98?). The other two are below.

Note the date on the photos below...I guess that the car has to be an early prototype / pre-production car?

When was the car launched, as in available to be bought, in the UK?

It's car #P21 or P26
Interesting...........what does 'P' stand for or signify; 'Press' or 'Prototype'?

I would hazard a guess that it is the latter.........

The engine/ engine bay looks fantastic, it would be great if the production engines looked like that.

With another 100hp of course :race:

It's currently sat in Renaults collection in Flins.

Lots of variations from the final production car including that trophy style twin plenum engine.

Also, as per the Auto magazines I passed onto you James... the one with the silver car and the black car featured. The silver car had the flush fitting side pods that can be seen in the prototype pictures above. ;)

Super stuff - so this particular Phase 1, or a prototype just like it, still exists! :approve:

Im 99% sure, it is the exact car, and a one off.

There were a number of other ph1 prototypes - I count 9 so far, and believe their were more - all different.

Excellent, thanks Duncan.

It would be fantastic to collate all info related to prototypes, including pictures, and have them uploaded to the member's area - something like an online version of a historical record.....

I have the edition of Autocar dated 23 September 1998...

"SUPERHATCH SHOCK, NEW CLIO V6!"

It has a two page spread of info and pictures. I'll try and put a photo up if anyone's interested.

Do it!
There cant be enough stuff like this.
Same goes for the "assembly line" thread.
Definately deserved some space in the knowledge base

Just taken a look in the knowledge section, the Autocar review is in there already!

It was a stroke of luck I came across the actual magazine, nice piece of memorabilia to have.

I have a bunch of letters, photos, brochures and articles that I've been meaning to find time to scan, but wanted to start doing so after I'd located the misplaced receipt for the £250 deposit the dealer took back in 1999. In the collection is a fair few relating to the engine specification changing. James felt them suitable for the KB, I'd best go hunting in the loft again.
