weight of cliov6

Weight distribution - in terms of where in the chassis, but also how high up the car - is arguably as important as how much weight you've got. The engine is a very tall engine that sits proud, which is a bit of a pig for the handling; think pendulum.

A ph1 could probably get down to 1150kg but would be pretty misearable as anything other than a toy. Lots of ways to shave weight:

Bin:
- leccy windows/mirrors
- xenons (on phase 2)
- airbags
- foglights
- front boot
- Air con and gubbins
- engine covers and all plastic trim
- all glass other than windscreen (lexan)
- standard seats
- carpet
- standard bonnet and tail gate
- standard wheels
- standard suspension
- standard exhaust system
- rear view mirror
- standard steering wheel
- radio/speakers/wiring
and loads more teeny tiny bits.

Car can be whatever you want it to be.

Interesting to note that when the concept car was being shipped around to drum up interest & get orders to secure it making into production, it was touted to be around 1100kg kerb weight.

The concept had a full roll cage & even a spare wheel under the bonnet but was sparse inside.

When I finally got mine delivered new I asked why the weight had ballooned & they said that the ncap rules had crippled it with crash protection, air bags in dash & seats etc plus the niceties such as air con & so on.

I was peeved to find when I picked it up that the spare wheel was no longer there & I had 2 Renault sales guys running rings looking for it until they asked a tech who said it was taken out for weight saving & replaced with the foam, so losing the spare shows Renault were very conscious during development that the weight was becoming a real issue.

Why is the little car heavy for its size ? Not sure wether the engine block is ally or not but what else pushes up the weight ? My tvr seac was 11055kg and it was a bigger car than the clio by miles !

Please tell me you have the SEAC still?

420 or 450? and was it one of the genuine SEACs?

The SEAC is quite possibly one of my favourite TVRs.

Tasmin 280i and a 3000M at my house :)

Sorry , owned a seac for five years , spent a fair bit on it especially in the suspension and engine areas , it did have some Kevlar in but not as much as the first ten made , it was a 450 .
