Wax Recommendations please

I'm looking for recommendations on wax products - coming to the end of a bottle of Meguiars gold class and whilst happy with the results, it simply doesn't last. Something with a bit more longevity sought. Any inspiration?

dodo juice supernatural for great looks but not so great durability, swissvax onyx for good looks and great durability :thumb

Collinite 476's for the winter

Thanks Dawn, I'll take a closer look at the Swissvax. :thumb

What makes the collinite good for winter use?

It last up to around six months, its very hard wearing and durable. So if you applied it around mid september you should be good for a few months :thumb

Excellent looks + peace of pxxx to apply too and only £15 per pot!

I'll double 476S, although I use it all year round too. There are loads of more expensive waxes which probably deliver different results (depth, wet gloss, mirror, metallic pop...) but imo collinite is the best £15 I've ever spent on any car cleaning product, period. As testament, my ka got dented and I haven't had the time nor inclination to sort it out but I wax over the section of broken paint (which is down to the metal) every few months and 476 even stopped that area from rusting, for over a year now, that's how good the wax protection is. It also gives a nice, wet shine.

PS if your car is silver you'll have a game telling most waxes apart.

plzzzz don't use collinites! Dawn should be ashamed of herself for recommending it!

on Black. CG 50:50, SV ONYX or if you're feelin a little more flush Supernatural or Saphir.

Now then must admit I was thinking of giving this Collinites a try following these recommendations from both Dawn and Rich :s [smilie=icon_eek.gif] so Ali please tell us more ? What would you recommend for an Illiad that gives good longevity as well ?

To late Ali!

Package has landed and will be going on the next day I'm not working and conditions permit. Went for the carlack 68 & collinite 476s combo from cleanyourcar.co.uk

Looking forward to getting stuck in

ok, feedback for those interested, spent a hungover sat morning giving the car a good going over.

Once washed and dried, on went the carlack 68 which I must admit, I was expecting more from - had been told of miraculous tar-spot removing properties but a couple of stubborn spots would not shift. I think I'm probably being harsh, and it did prvide a very clean base for the wax but no substitute for claying any tough spots.

The wax. Ahhhh, the wax. collonite 476s. Wow. I can't recommend it highly enough. It is a joy to apply (smell aside!) and buffs to a very deep shine. I swear a raincloud heading my way diverted on seeing this stuff going on! It did pour yesterday and the water beading was impressive.

Time will tell if the longevity is up to scratch but initial impressions are good. Wish I had a camera handy.

In summary, for anyone who likes a good detailing session now and then, this is probably for you. More seasoned/dedicated detailers will no doubt have better lotions and potions up their sleeve, but in my view, for your average vee owner (is there such a thing?!) this ticks the boxes.

Glad you liked it.
Ali likes spending lots on his wax coz he's a weekend buffer boy, he does a grand job on his car from the photo's I've seen so I'm sure he knows what he's doing.. but I'll keep ordering my 476 it's done no wrong for me.
btw, I like the smell of 476, it's like turps and wilcos stores, God forbid I wax the Defender but if I do I would expect get lynched if it smelled like a ladies handbag afterwards.

hi i have just got a tub of auto glym hd wax and what can i say........
what a total waste of money.......
i will stick with my poor boys and dodo juice.
has any one else used the ag hd?

i gave the hd a go but it did not give me the depth of shine that i was after, i think it is just another ag gimic
i have just got some smart wax and it is 100% better than the hd.i will still use the poor boys and dodo juice as this gives me the finish that i like" nice and wet looking" thanks for the reply
jay

Depending on how much the car has been used but normally I use AG SRP followed by Zymol carbon, followed up with a wipe down of dodo red mist, depth and shine is brilliant. People do think think that Zymol carbon is not the hardest wearing wax due to it being more of a natural wax but I have not had any problem with this although the car is not used that much and clean alot !

Can I ask a question here then, what is recomended for polishing and waxing ice berg silver. I need to move on from meguiars soon..... Lol lol cheers....
