waste gate Megane 3

Dear all,

I am new in this group so hope I don't start a topic that has been discussed before. My wife has a 2012 Megane Grandtour 1.5 DCI 90 HP. The turbo got damaged and I replaced the cartridge a couple of days ago. I have been playing around with the rod of the actuator and don't know the original position anymore.
Actually I have 2 questions (probably more):
1)The actuator is via a magnet valve connected with the vacuum pump. Is the waste gate valve open when the engine is not running? Does the gate close the moment you start the car and create a vacuum?
Does the rod move out to open the gate to release pressure or does it move in?
2) Can I adjust the actuator rod myself or is it specialist work? If I can do it, can somebody tell me how to and what to watch out for.
Probably come back with more questions at a later stage.
Thanks in advance to help me out

@Moggy do you know much about these?

Actuators are usually pressure operated not vacuum. The WG should be closed when not on boost though.
Thanks for the reply. There are 2 types, the ones that operates the actuator from the turbo (pressure operated) and the one I have which uses a Pierburg vacuum pump. The vacuum is controlled by a magnetic switch valve. I assume that the waste gate is open when the pump isn't working and only closes when you have the vacuum. I hope to get a correct answer about that one. Cheers
