Visit to Renault F1 Team factory in Oxfordshire 4th April 2019

Is anyone heading down from north of Enstone, and fancy convoying down, as I’ll be heading down from Birmingham?

Also, we all turning up for 11am?

Jit

Will be leaving Derby approx 0845......keep an eye out as you might not spot me

Mine and a green V6 may stand out a little!

UPDATE
Details and Programme of the day have been sent by Private Message.

You will see that the official start time of the programme is 12.20 with arrival from 11.45 and they don't really want us there before that as one of the staff has to be with us at all times. Normally if the weather was ok we could chat in the car park as people arrive so it is not an issue but just bear this in mind and don't schedule to arrive early or if you do then it's on the understanding that you stay in the car park area.

I know it's difficult when we are coming from all over.

I have scheduled the day so the important bit happens AFTER lunch so if you are late it's not a disaster.

Thanks for the clarification, gives me a bit of extra leeway around a work call I have to do in the morning!

As a heads up, upon arrival at the front entrance barrier you will see a sign asking you to stop there in the layby and walk to the security room to collect your visitor pass. Then drive in and park in the row for us opposite reception.
We have 20 spaces and 19 V6 so stay in the lines if we are to get everyone in!
Other cars can park anywhere except the bays with the Management names ;)

I look forward to the pictures.... But still gutted. If anyone spots a desk with Espace F1 that's me. Sneaky email picture shows where they're expecting people to park if helps (you come in at the top of the picture), the upper area is parking.

Such as massive shame you won't be there Dom but I shall point out the boss's empty desk to those on my tour group ;)

Great day!
Fascinating place and good to see a little of what goes on behind the scenes.
Thanks for organising Graeme :approve:

Indeed, thanks Graeme, a great day perfectly organised. fascinating stuff - makes you appreciate just how much effort and technical skill goes into these machines.. was nice to meet some fellow V6 owners too :approve:

Glad I got to see the group at the end of the day. Impressive sight. Hope the tour was good. It's a good bunch of people

Thank you for organising Graeme, and top marks for everyone bringing out their price and joy in the abysmal weather. Fantastically well attended meet. Lots of people made huge journeys to make it there.

Great day out and great way to kick off the years events.

Some photos I took (the official album wont let me upload to it James, so I have put them in the bucket for now).

Hope everyone made it home safe, it was dreadful conditions on the motorway!

As per the above, many thanks for all your organisation efforts Graeme. Apart from the weather everything seemed to follow the plan.

The actual 'factory' was not at all what I'd expected, masses of twin side by side screens, 3D printers, the hospital type gowns worn in the carbon fibre area, etc, etc.

Thanks also to Stehen Dell for opening up the doors to the RAOC Workshop treasure trove. Equally fascinating in a different way.

Well done to everyone for staying committed despite the weather and not dropping out on the day. The Vee turnout of course also helps to add to the memories of the day.

Great pics Duncan.

Great to see everyone and meet some new faces for the first time.

We had 19 Vees there so biggest club meet since OrigineRS 2016.

Great Pics Duncan well done for asking which bits you could photograph
And very interesting to see how the factory has changed since my last visit over a decade ago . As David T says It's now a 3D printing shop! Our guide said he expected most of the components to be 3D printed in the future rather than hand made but the exhausts are still a work of art. was it £100,000 per set? How much for a Clio V6 pipe ;)
Also thanks to @alpinerenault for opening the RAOC workshop afterwards.

Great day out! Huge thanks to Graeme for all the time and effort put into such a fantastic opportunity to see something of what goes on behind the scenes of an F1 team :approve: Brilliant turn out of Vees as well, good to see so many together and used!
Also a big thanks to Mr. Dell for tea and biscuits and an opportunity to look around his amazing collection of all things Alpine, it really finished the day off.

Well done to both and again many thanks!!

Thanks again for arranging this meet Graeme.. Great to see so many v6's together again after such a long time!!! :salut:

I would just like to echo the comments of everyone and add my thanks to Graeme for all his hard work organising this visit... Obviously experienced in herding cats!.. The Vee was properly ditched by the time we got back to Derbyshire having aquaplaned most of the way up and looked like I'd pinched some aero paint from the factory. Great to catch up with familiar folks and meet new faces. Good start to the year. :)
