Vee steaming up inside!

My car is steaming up inside unless i keep the air conditioning on all the time.

The car is kept garaged and there is no leaks etc from anywhere which i can see.

Does anyone elses car do this or any ideas on why its doing it?

Just a thought... I once had a heater matrix go on a Golf I once owned. Couldn't understand why the car kept misting up at the time, untill it got so bad.. it was obvious, the mist was worse with the fan on! [smilie=icon_clown.gif]

Dave leave the window slightly down when parked in those sucludded areas lol,

Heater matrix does sound like the possible cause though.

LOL no water in the car atall, no damp floors etc etc.

When i get in the car it isnt steamed up, then if i leave heaters off or on with no air con the car steams up.

Im driving around with aircon on constantly at the mo.

I guesses rear covers but iv had them off and back on but still no joy.

Without sounding patronising here...

Have you tried giving the inside a really thorough clean and cleaning all the windows with glass cleaner and demister - may help?

LOL ill drag myself outside with my hangover to give it a good clean inside. Worth a try and even if it doesnt stop it, it will be a nicer place to sit :approve:

If water does get in it tends to collect underneath the seats next to the bulkhead between the seats and the fuel tank. It can sit there and the front of the car, footwells etc will still appear to be dry.

It's also quite hard to tell if there is water sitting in the car due to the depth of the foam on which the carpet sits; you'd need a lot in there before it became noticable.

Leaks are usually from the front of the car - check the scuttle area: there are 2 drains in it and they do tend to get blocked if they do water backs up in this area and can leak in down the front bulkhead.

If the heater matrix was the source you'd know pretty soon because you'd be topping up coolant on a regular basis - it's in the coolant circuit at all times.

Just a thought - have a look at the pollen filter as the pollen filter soaks up the moist air so when its cold it steams up easier.
