Vauxhall Astra 2.0 diesel

Nearly 5 years of ownership… and finally something other than servicing parts need looking at…

Rear shocks showing light misting of oil…

Whilst I am there I may refresh all the suspension all round and 2 new front tyres (seems to eat tyres - 100% not my driving style 🤣)

However MOT’d for another year… the Astra has been a crack car to own cost wise.

looks like that Astra is doing well!? What happened to the Corsa??
The corsa was sold very quickly onto a friend who called up, she needed a cheap car to run around it to replace her old corsa, so I sold it onto her for what I paid for it.

Annoyingly wish I had kept it as I am training to be a driving instructor again and the corsa would have made a great cheap driving instructor car.

The corsa passed its mot, 2 advisory’s
- front pads low
- play in drivers side top mount.

Quick look on eurocarparts - £280, autodoc £137.50. Order placed on Thursday, delivered Monday - without custom charges.

Over the last week I have noticed in the mornings a lot of condensation on the windows, so today I removed the pollen filter… clearly not been changed in a long time.

New one from eurocarparts on £10.99, abit fiddly to fit as yesterday I had my dual controls fitted and they sit in the way… abit of swearing and I got the job done.

Had some time this afternoon for a good clean..

Steam cleaned the glass and polished, this along with the pollen filter should help reduce the condensation in the morning.

Engine bay cleaned up - lots of leaves and debris everywhere, moss growing in a few places.

So a good scrub, decent wash and finished off with a decent wax (Bilt Hamber speed wax) - cheap and cheerful but does the job well.

Steamed the glass…? Always wondered how to get glass really clean?? That sounds like the winner.

Is it some fabric covered attachment for a steam gun?

Steaming glass helps removes grease etc from the glass… and ofcourse, really clean glass.

No need for fabric, just spray and wipe away with a fresh microfibre.

Side note - I have no more condensation on my windows :)

Another quick clean for the corsa…

Sold it last week to a pupil, taking it away on Thursday when my replacement car comes…

Made a £200 loss on the corsa.. but that includes brakes, top mounts, dual controls.. more than happy with that loss.

Been fun owning the cheap corsa again.

The Latest replacement… 2022, Ford Puma 1.0 Meg Eco Boot…

First impressions- not much bigger inside than the corsa, decent torque for a 1.0.. but that will be the battery assist…

Let’s see how long until the eco boom shows.
