Vauxhall Astra 2.0 diesel

Just thought I would do an update...

About 3 months/4000 miles ago I got told by Vauxhall during a service I needed 4 new tyres, pads up front and they wanted£1k for the work... I declined... They did say the front pads are down to less than 5%.... So being a typical tight arse all the time it stopped I left them... The tyres weren't to bad.. just low... Backs still have 3-4mm, fronts are about 2mm... But the passenger side decided to pick up a nail... So I have decided to replace the fronts.

Quick look online and I notice black circles do a 15% selected brands for NHS brands... Thank you very much.

Treated the Astra to some nice Michelin tyres... Just got source some decent disc and pads and job done.

New tyres fitted, I have never really bothered with "decent" tyres...but the PS4's are awesome.

Changes the handling of the Vauxhall :)

When the wheels off I thought I would check the brakes..IMG_20200328_094237.webp

Turns out there is not much left of the pads, and discs have a decent lip on them...

New Brembo's are being fitted tomorrow along with some ATE 200 brake fluid.

I am beginning to like the Astra, will most likely keep it now unless the car garages offer silly prices on new cars.

The Astra is still going strong, had it 2.5 years, had the 5 3 years.... Think I am going steady with cars now.

The Astra has covered 42k, I have booked it in for a cambelt kit to be fitted my friend Chris.

Overall the Astra has costs bugger all to run over the last 2.5 years of ownership and I really can't fault it... Other than being a shitty Vauxhall

Picked up the replacement for the Astra today…..

A one owner (old boy who has passed away), 31k on the clock, full main dealer history etc….. 1.2 16v, electric panoramic sunroof, air con, cruise control, garaged all its life……. Vauxhall Corsa.

Ideal little run around town, I don’t do the mileage to warrant a diesel, and 90% of the time just me and the 2 youngest kids.

bloody hell!! Cant believe anyone would pay that! Begs the question why a new ish car would need a new stereo anyway!!??
Crappy Vauxhall for you…

Sadly he was an old boy and trusted Vauxhall… service history is Vauxhall, it’s had new disc and pads all round twice!!… and only covered 31k in that time, no way did it need them, considering it’s on original tyres alround.

I had one of those with the 1.0 ecoflex engine as a company car for a while and it was shit!! It was so underpowered and really slow! I have driven worse but there really was nothing good about it! And I'm not a Vauxhall hater as my mum had the shape before (Corsa C I think) and it was a cracking car!!
