tyres?

Hi all,

Basically I'd like to put tyres on some alloy's and am looking for minimum tyre wall i.e so to look as slimline as possible, i find less tyre means it emphasis's the alloys, does anyone know what i'd need, whats available or what i can down to?

currently I have 205/40 R17 on 17x7 alloys.

ta in advance :P

Well after kerbing alloy's with rubber band's on i've gone off norrow, sidewall's. As you never know what you might drive over on the road's.

I'm in agreement with Peter, my 17's have 'rubber bands' on at the mo and i have cursed many a time this year, because the alloys stick out from the tyre, I've curbed my alloys a few times, mostly in London where parking is tight and not from lack of care.

The next set of rims and tyres i buy for the car will have the tyres extending further out than the alloys so I get some kind of cushion effect if I bump a curb in the future.

I could probably agree with the others, because I've seen kerbing on wheels with big welly-boot tyres on, but that's not really answering your question is it Elvis?

For a proper answer, I will point you instead to the following website, which told me more than I've ever cared to know or remember about tyres, or wheels come to that.

The Wheel and Tyre Bible

the lowest profile you could go is 30mm if the tyres will fit run what the big german car run 235 40 17 but you could run 235 30 17 your looking around 110 quid per tyre for decent ones though

cheers for all the replies, in the end I put 205/40/17 turned out to be perfect. :)

I'll get some piccies up as soon as i get a min
