Tyres Rub on inner wheel arch on full lock

G

Guest

Hi, i need some technical advice, my valver is running on 17" wheels and lowered 35mm on front and when i turn full lock the tyres scrub on the engine side of the wheel arch (not on the wings), would putting spacers on them stop the rubbing? :)

Yes, this is what im doing mine on full lock wont even move as its so bad!

doesn,t answer the question...

theres a few things to consider really..

first tyre size should be running 205/40 17's tyres as these are within 1.93 percent...

or 215/35 17's as these are 0.38 smaller overall..

if you are then you need to be running an et 36 or et 40 offset ..if you not spacers might help...

17,s can be run on mk1 but wont improve the ride or handling unless other things are tuned as well...

Nonsense.

I ran 17's on one of my valvers a very long time ago when i was young and naive.

I didn't have any scrubbing at all on full lock and the car was very low.

They can fit well if you have the correct tyre sizes and don't have the back end too low.

Try spacers but watch the outer arches on the front, it might catch.

OK thanx for the help, ive got quite alot of space between the tyre and the wing so will try some spacers, THANX GUYS!! :)

i think (personally) that 16s are to big for valver let alone 17s
but its what you as an individual prefer, i'd go for some 15s mate then see how much better it handles.... :D

I wasn't saying 17's are ideal for a valver i was just stating that they DO fit, there are some valvers floating around with 18's on!

I for one certainly agree that 15's are the best size for a valver because tyres are so cheap :D

HMM nah im gonna keep the 17's lol. :D

Hey im getting the spacers, Im not sure which ones to go for though, 5mm, 10mm or bigger???? also will i need longer wheel bolts???
Thanx
Tom :)

Ran 18's without any rubbing on mine, totally ruined the handling though but wasnt lowered at all.If you fit spacers then youll probably need to get some longer security bolts aswell, unless you dont bother with them.
