TWR Devploment Bit Build

Loud Man it's your car and engine, if you have a reason to paint it then our views are largely irrelevant.

Alluminium does oxidise, as you know, hence the appearance of your engine and probably the reset of us, so guess it's just a question of easthetics rather than function.

Black, Red or Blue are good looking engine colours though I did do a yellow one once in a Rally Minin I had :-)

UPDATE

Right finally got off my arse and been down to a machine shop to organise my missing fuel rail end, £60 to get one milled and then turned.

Next was to source the fuel hoses, I want braided with posh unions so gone for goodridge ones these will be between £60-£100 the pair.

I have still to order the headgasget set and cam belt kit which will be next month unless I have a good ebay month again.

Update:

Picked up the fuel rail union end I had made and a spoton job they did (Shame he retired yeasterday)

Today ordered all the mechanical bits needed for the rebuild be about a week none of it apart from water pump and cam belt in UK, supprise.

Ive also stripped the heads off my new engine and the thing is spotless, it hasent even got hot enough to melt the headgasget bonding, valves not carbed up and they still have writing on them.

So all is good just need the time to do but not with the extra light in evening its better.

Not sure if Im gona get time to modify my new subframe lower engine mount to Mk2 mounting at present but can be done after summer, easy enough.

I do need the method for tightening the head bolts though as cant see section 7 on the manual, if anyone can help?

Cheers Tim for the input

The more I think about it the more I am thinking of investing in a Motec ECU, but must get the moter built and back in first

I struggle with pics cant get head round how to post.

Can build a car but can't put up a picture.........?

Don't anyone who regrets going Motec.

I hate fricking computars, they will take over the world one day a destroy us all.

Anyway does anyone have any idea how to get the valve stem seals out? or is this just a silly question

Assuming you mean the actual physical process once you've got the valves, springs etc out of the equation:

Have you got one of these...

http://www.justoffbase.co.uk/Valve-Stem ... ley-VS1671

They'll turn the job from seeming impossibility to a simple exercise of grip and pull.

I'll admit my experience is limited to rebuilding the head on my 205 but removing the valve stem seals was a painful job due to the relative depth of the head and the lack of the above tool. The seals tend to go brittle and stubborn after a while and getting them off without damaging the guides is the challenge.

Putting the new ones on - now that's even more "fun" :-)

Cheers m8

I borrowed a pair from a friend but the buggers wouldnt fit down the ruddy holes so I will get a set of the sealy ones

With refitting the new ones Ive always put them in boiling water and they just pop on, the nightmare is the lack of space to get the old ones out.

Cheers m8 Ordered and on there way, thats a good site cheap too

Tooled-Up is another good site for some automotive bits - they did a good deal on a Facom Macpherson clamp separator kit that put their price below the price Peugeot wanted for a single tool.

I love it when you talk dirty - Facom Macpherson clamp separator - from tooled-up - wayhay!

I say "Flange" to you, no returns!

I know this is a slow go project sorry guys (little lad and house killing my time)

Anyway, I managed to clean one of the cylinder heads ready to put it back together. I got in a little bother as I put it in the oven to dry it out quick, misses went bonkers so will be waiting till shes out to do the other one hehe.

Hopfully we will have some nice warm light summer nights so I can continue on.

If anyone can post pics up for me then I can email them.
