5 Turbo 1 and 2 Turbo 2

Hi
Looked at a turbo2 today in white no engine RHD converted ,got told it used to run a V8 , Its not pretty but is a genuine car as much as I can tell . Does it ring any bells with any body ?
 
meh 1.4 sounds better ;) ...or a rotary
Like to have a crack at buying it ,have not made an offer yet ,need to have a better look at it first .I have a gordini engine to fit in . It has been messed with a fair bit so it would suit a rally replica than back to standard.
Can't take any pics until deal is done, owner's request.
My tidy H plate GT turbo might have to go to raise the funds .
not quite sure where to value the turbo2 ,needs a lot of work

That sounds more like it. There's a price guide in the below or in the resources section...condition 3 is 21k! although that is meant to be a car that can be MOT'd/driveable, not forgetting the OE parts are daft money esp the mech fuel injection, so really the value should be not even half that IMHO

I mentioned rotary as I'd have a dream. A dream one day to pop a rotary engine in the back of a T2 :D
 
Sounds perfect for a non std engine if the price is right. As stated big value lies with oem status

Sooooo many epic engines available I would be adding something funky to the equation

It has been well butchered but should be recoverable, you will have great fun sourcing parts to rebuild it, it seems that a Renault box has been used with an adapter plate so might be one from a GT40 replica using a 21turbo box and bellhousing, either you will need a bell housing from a T2, just sold on the other day, or go back to a 365, either way not going to be cheap, all the other turbo gubbins is missing so a long shopping list and deep pockets!
Still worth a good few thousand just for the V5 and vin plates! Wont be cheap!! RHD conversion trashes the value of the shell on other hand so think positive:ap:
The orange/yellow one mentioned above was a very agricultural piece of junk complete with a cheap body kit and the sunroof masticked over! just a standard 5 that some one had a go at with a Gordini turbo engine and box nailed into the back!

once again thanks for all your comments . looking at the turbo 2 again tomorrow . I have a good hour spare to look at her in detail , I also purchased the left hand drive Renault 5 TL off ebay at Christmas which is totally rust free . so if she is to bad a reshell could be the answer .
rotary with a T51 and charge cooler. moving 800kg I see the dream.
space is also a problem , 4 mk1 5's and the GT the workshops to full to work on any thing ,Stuart
 
Update
Taking a closer look the car is in very poor condition ,it has a 21 turbo engine and box ,everything is there body wise , full set off standard wheels .ally roof,front end is not straight and incomplete , figure of 8k has been mentioned .it has been red at some point and had a hard life .I,m thinking I could convert my left hooker and use it for parts .waiting to see all the paperwork. But I am thinking 5k tops .
 
Turbo 2 aluminium roof? unusual. 5k sounds good to me those 21 boxes are rare so I hear :D

Make sure the wings are not cracked they get damaged easy when idiots lean in to get at the battery. Don't ask me how i know
 
Spent a hour looking and finding space to put it , if successful . found the work shop manual I had when I had one before but its in German.
Half a front bumper with fog light in and a front wheel (trx) various gordini suspension bits and four rear side glasses with the modified hinges still attached , atom gordini log book and vin plate and two brand new head lights I thought went with the deal . all in all a good day . but no space to put it , so something is going to go . I will take some pictures of my cars and see if you chaps can find one of them a better home .
