Tracker & Registration Age

Hey guys,

I wanted to ask a couple of questions regarding a phase one Vee i'm looking at if you wouldn't mind,

I asked the owner of the car i'm looking at if it was a uk model and for the plaque number.. he told me it WAS a UK model and the number was - 380,

I also asked him if there was a tracker fitted and he replied there wasn't.....

Now i've done my homework on phase one Vees for a good while now and i'm pretty sure all uk models were fitted with a tracker as standard wern't they?? Could someone shed a little light on that for me please? :)

Also i checked the number against the phase one iceberg list and its says number 380 is a 52 plate but the car has a 51 plate on it and i also did a text check on the car last night and that too came up as a 51 plate with the correct preious owners/car details etc...

is the list wrong or is there something alittle more shady going on with the car? Also would a later number plaque in this case 380.... Be registerd on a 02/52 plate seeing as its quite nearer to the end of the 500 uk models?

Any help would be much appreciated as i do really like the car and he owner seems a genuinely nice guy but just wanted to check the questions nigling my mind.. :approve:

Well 380 isn't unusual for even a very early Vee, the number didn't run in order.
My MK 1 was an early 2002 number but number 493

UK MK 1s all had a tracker fitted, so this one may be an import.

380 is in the register and you can see it's a very early MK 1.

PS. Is it?

UK Phase 1s were numbered based on the number they were on the UK order list. Hence, given drops out from the original order list, the Phase 1 plaques go higher than the count of cars and aren't a contiguous list.

As James says all UK cars had the tracker and an alarm fitted at the UK import centre.

its not the second picture James,

I'm pretty sure it is the one in the register as I did check that too and the one i'm looking at does have the yellow painted AP brakes & the antricite (?spelling?) wheels with the yellow oz decals.. but in his advert he said they have been refurbed and look alittle lighter than the first picture here & the 2 i saw in the register,

Do you think the current owner may just think there is no tracker?? Is the tracker visable at all?

Also from the first picture you put up james how can you tell its a early model? is it from the boot catch? did the early ones have this style then later they had the coloured mk2 style?

Thanks

Regarding the alarm & tracker Andy thats the information I had read too...

Yes early small black boot catches.

The tracker unit is hidden on the car. He probably doesn't have tracker documents.

What is the reg number of the one you're looking at?

Yes the pictures I have of the car I'm looking at does indeed have the early boot catch,

The reg is - YM51 RDZ

I feel both YM51 RDZ and RX51 KCY are the same car. Both cars are not on the Renault System which leads me to think it is an import with no tracker.

hi mate, the icebergs found list list is only as good as the information that people have written on the net!ive corrected it accordingly.

it seems the car you have posted is 380 and completely genuine. i remember seeing it up for sale last time. seems to be a nice example :approve:

it will have the tracker in it, just might not of been registered.

Hi

Get the chassis number and ring trackstar up and give them the last seven digits and they will check to see if it's on there system for you, the trackers are recorded against chassis numbers as they did not have registion plates on when the trackers were fitted as this was done before they went to the dealers.

Cheers

Steve

Wern't having a pick at you duncan ;) just had quite abit of conflicting info from different sources thats why I decided to post it up on here for some more help, :approve: I hope the car in question is indeed number 380 as from the pics and old posts on this forum she does look VERY clean! Just alittle more confused now as its pointing towards being an import from what James feels but I've also been told from the current owner it is number 380 which IS a uk model :s

oh the joys on Vee hunting!!

oh i know mate, didnt think you were, you have helped tie up more on the list so thanks!! :approve:

import number 380 will be LHD. im 99% sure that this is a UK car and its number is 380. :approve:
