Been told that you should tighten the bolts say of the wishbone bushes or arb bushes when the car is sitting under its own weight (not when jacked up or on stands), is this right or one of those things you can say Fcuk it & dont really matter??
as chet sais i only do it on my cars customers meh... get em just to nip (bolts) then with the car on axle stands put the jack under the wishbone and take up some of the weight and tighten the bolts
Ok no worries . I take it thats the same process as the ARB bushes? I heard the middle ARB clamps are a nightmare to put back & re-tighten because they spring back?
Its not such an issue on arb bolts, but still good practise. Think of the angle the lower arms are wen the weights on em, an compare that with the angle of the arms when th cars jacked up. If its my car I fit bolts finger tight then lower jack and drive it up on some little ramps an tighten up. Bit of a ballache but it allows the bush to sit correctly.
And yeh arb clamps can be a cunt to get on with new bushes, makes sure u got a good sized lever or pipe grips to hand.
