I've only done about 15 miles since the map and some of that has been sat doing 3mph it stupid traffic (I was busy at a bonfire on Sat night and the went to see Russell Brand last night so haven't been in the car much) so you'll have to bare with me for a more detailed take on the map. I guess in general it's a little difficult to feel what an extra 8-9bhp feels like but there's certainly a difference. I have only just really studied the maps myself, but whilst driving on my way to work this morning I was putting it in different gears at different revs and trying to get a feel for any differences. One thing I did feel was what seemed to be a definite pick up around 4,000rpm - and now that I've looked back at the maps this seems to tally with a nice bit of extra torque at that rev range. I think it's probably more noticeable with 'real world driving'. What I mean is that it's easier to pick up on the differences when driving in normal situations (dropping down a gear for overtaking, accelerating on the motorway in 6th gear and so on) rather than braying it from a standing start - everything happens so quick it's harder to notice anything.
Increase in power and torque can only be a good thing, and in my opinion at £245 (around £30 per bhp!) that's pretty good value for money. I'm in the Leeds/Uddersfield/Halifax kind of area, so if anyone wants a 'try before you buy' then give me a PM and we'll sort something out. I'd hate for someone to commit to the map based on my feedback alone (maybe it's all physiological and I'm willing my car to go faster.....that's my get out clause!).
Another thing myself and Paul was talking about would be to arrange a rolling road day at The Racing Line (in Halifax - very nice bunch of guys and they had some pretty special cars in there) where we could book the day at the RR and everyone can test their stock bhp, followed by the remap and another blast on the RR. Be a nice way for everyone to meet up, have a chat whilst Paul is doing the maps and then go for something to eat and a drive afterwards, and even if you aren't wanting to re-map come along anyway, you may change your mind on the day!
Let me know if anyone has any specific questions.
Cheers
Nev
