Sump Plug 'Square' socket tool & Oil Filter Housing Advise

Ashy B

New Member
Can anyone help me with the proper Sump Plug 'Square" socket tool Size please to fit the PH1 sump plug,

Also I believe to remove the oil filter housing a 27mm spanner is needed... can anyone advise whether a ring spanner or swan neck or open ended spanner or usual socket is better for the removal job please?

Thank you kindly,

Ash

Hi Ash, I did my starter motor on a Ph2 and pretty sure the sump is 8mm square IIRC ( have a set of 3 different sizes!!! ) Will confirm the spanner size for the oil cooler housing but 27mm does ring a bell as I had to buy one, I bought a standard ring spanner / open end and had difficulty getting in as the retaining nut is only thin. Might make access easier with a swan neck spanner or a socket ( if you have one )

The only problem I ran into was removing some of the upper heat shield bolts might be worth giving them a good soaking with WD40 the day before and small hands required ;)
