Starting problems - No spark, Fuel OK. Possible Immobiliser?

Hi all,

Having probs getting my valver started..

The battery went completely dead recently and since charging it i have not been able to start the car.

It turns over fine, gets fuel (can smell it) but does not spark. Have had plugs out, cleaned them and re-tried but nothing.

The car does have a Cobra 3190 alarm/immobiliser fitted so I'm beginning to think that might have something to do with it. I heard that if the battery goes dead it can cause havoc with these systems.

I have tried 'resetting' this system with a technique a friend told me, where the ignition is turned to the on position, and the unlock button on the fob is pressed for a few seconds.. but that didnt work.

The fob has 2 buttons on it, a larger one for (un)locking doors, and a smaller 'panic' button next to it. Have a led/pushbutton switch mounted in the dash above the ignition area.

Have taken dash off and found the little cobra black box, but not entirely sure what to try from there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated because i want to get it on ebay this week preferably!

Thanks in advance.

Rob.

hi mate, im not sure about your immobilizer but a burnt out bit of circuit in the ecu stopped mine from sparking so you could possibly try that
