Hey guys my car is nigh on standard now as i have sent the steering wheel off to get recovered. But this has got me looking into the cd/tape player. What did the ph1 v6 clio come with as i am looking to swap out the after market head unit for a standard one. Any advice or photos would be great. On another note i am looking for the under engine under tray too. Thanks.

I'm sure its the same as the phase 1 172 & the Megane Scenic possibly all sorts of other Renault models too.

Theres a cheap one on ebay at the moment: link

Also is there ment to be a cd changer under the passanger seat or is that where the rac trackstar was fitted? I have documents saying the track star was fitted when new but i haven’t been able to find it yet.

Thanks for the picture. I was really hoping it was a cd player. Would an early 172 cd player just plug in too? So it looks standard but i can still play cd’s. Thanks.

On the phase 1 there is an Alpine 6 disc changer under the drivers seat, so no worries on playing CDs!

The trackstar is fitted in the dash.

As always awesome information from you duncan. Thanks again for your help.

Hi, are you sure it’s under the drivers seat? Mines got the tyre foam under the drivers seat, the cd changers under the passenger seat I think! I’ll have to pop out and check now

Mine was under the drivers seat but it is gone. And i have always wondered where the spare wheel/puncture repair kit goes in these cars. There looks like there is a little base for it to sit on.

I’ve gone and bought a radio and put an offer in on a cd changer now as nobody has butchered or removed the wires it will drop straight in. Thanks for all the help guys. :salut:

90% lol! I know for sure they are different on the two models.

If I remember rightly, the CD changer is under the passengers seat on the phase 2 and the drivers seat on the phase 1, but perhaps I got it back to front. The tyre foam is definitely under the drivers seat at the back - you can see it when you slide the seat forwards.

Hi, I have a phase 1 and have recently removed an aftermarket stereo and fitted an original unit. My wires had not been butchered it had a adapter fitted. The changer is under the drivers seat 100%. My unit was £15 from ebay. Google " renault clio radio code generator" and it will show you how to get your 4 digit radio code and how to enter it on your steering wheel stalk. All the info above is in the public domain. I struggled with the inputting of the code to start with but finally got it

Thanks for the coding heads up i have coded the old mans renault master a few times so i know how awkward it can be. Getting there now. Just waiting for the steering wheel of royal wheels and that will be the interior finished.

Got the head unit in and working and the 6 cd changer is all plugged in and working but i have the wrong bracket to hold the cd changer in place. Has anyone got the correct part number so i can look for one please? Also with the cd changer under the drivers seat where will the tyre weld kit go? Thanks.

The tyre weld kit goes behind the CD changer. The tyre kit should be right at the back.

found a photo of its location: [album]21541[/album]

There should be a plate bracket bolted to the floor behind the seat (see Duncan's picture) The 2 foam canisters are wrapped in grey foam & secured with 2 black wide velcro straps (same as the ones that secure the tool box).[album]21643[/album]
