Squeeky Aux Belt

I've posted about this before and the general response was 'mines does that too', but its driving me nuts now, it does quiet down after 15+ miles but I'd like to do something about it.

So my question is is it safe enough if I access it from the wheel arch and spray it (the belt and/or the pulley) with WD40? Will it cause any problems? Belt slipping or anything like that? You'll have to forgive my lack of mechanical knowledge

Cheers
John

Not a Vee but my mum's Arosa 1.0 had a squeeky aux belt - mechanic squirted it with WD and now it's fine :)

Could be as Mark says but you can test out this theory by wetting the belt with a little spray of water or wd40 - this alway s seems to do the trick with my cars as the belt tends to dry and squeek. It may ease off sue to expansion as it gets warm ...

Other option is to simply get it checked out by a dealer ...

Dealer has had the car, kept it overnight as it wasnt squeeking when I brought it in. His diagnosis was squeeky aux belt...offered no assistance or solution other than that it wouldnt be covered under warranty. Needless to say I was pretty pissed off.

John, you didn't take it to the dealer in Harrogate did you?! They are shocking from my experience and other peoples comments here at work.

I did Suggs yea, they just werent interested like, appauling service. And then they caught the front on something too, made a right mess of it. All denied of course.

By the way mate you should get an award for eagle eyed spotter lol. I'm always past you before I realise its you these dark evenings. :)

 Speaking of speedbumps those new ones they have just put in are pointless! Just how fast are they expecting people to take a 90 degree junction.

Not sure if you've had to go down to the Royal Mail sorting office on claro road yet in the Vee but be careful cause it catches on those humps and there are about 10 on that stretch. Lesson learned!
