Megane Speaker Upgrade

My experience of all this is a few years old so may no longer be that relevant but it was always a case of ignoring the big popular brands like pioneer, kenwood etc as although they made nice head units their component speakers weren't generally up to much. Better off going for something from the likes of Focal, quart and other more specialist speaker brands. My personal favourite in my R5 were Mission's although they didnt seem to stay in car hifi that long. Mind you this was all back in the days when I ran amps so not sure a stock head unit would drive some of the 'posher' speakers properly. So all in all not much help really although I can comment that I once paid a shop well over £100 ( probably 25 years ago) to fit some Kenwood 5.25" speakers and they were rubbish. Also i see you listed 2 different size of speakers. If you can fit in 6.5" speakers you will in my opinion find them better than the 5.25" ones.
Not heard of hertz speakers so cannot comment if any good or not but it seems the shop is charging a fair bit to fit them, but then again I'm tight and would do it myself.

Yeah I thought he was a bit expensive but the back seats and side trim has to come out to fit the rear ones. The ones in the rear will be the larger size hertz than the link I gave. The pioneers (according to the ebayer) are custom designed for the megane 3, but he is in Germany so will be expensive to return.

So my speakers in my RS are not worth listening to so I've been looking into upgrading them, my local specialist wants £345 to fit these: HERTZ DSK130.3 (13CM) 5.25" COMPONENT 120 WATT DOOR / SHELF SPEAKER | eBay
But I've been looking at these: Renault Megane 3 08-14 Pioneer Speaker,Boxing 6 1/2in Combo Front/Tailgate | eBay
Has anyone got any advice regarding this? My head unit is the stock Arkamys 3D system giving out 30 watts p/c I believe.

Daz,

The stock headunit is gash. No two ways about it .

I put these in Pioneer TS-Q131C 220W 13cm custom fit component speaker system - TS-Q131C from Pioneer but not from that vendor. Its better , but not amazing sound. Easy to DIY as well.

My speakers turned up on Friday and they are 5.1/8" instead of 6.5", the eBay shop has now changed there listing and said its eBay's translation that's caused the error so I'm gonna get a refund and put Dyna mats in because on Saturday I turned the bass to its lowest setting and turned it up and it sounded good but once I started driving at high speed I couldn't hear the detail properly.

Update: I was gonna send the speakers back but it was gonna cost £30 for the postage so Ive decided to fit them. They are supposed to be plug n play but they are not, so ive got to cut into wires etc. Has anyone got specifics for the arkamys system? I need to know how they are wired. The instructions for the speakers say I fit the tweeter to the woofer with a wire that has an inline High Pass Filter. so could I use the existing wiring or do I need to pull the new wire through and remove the old one? Or could I get away with just swapping the woofers over and leaving everything else as is? I would go to my local Car Audio shop Cablex but he wll only 'supply and fit' Hertz speakers and wont touch anything else so he is no help and I bought the Pioneers for their wider ranging frequency responce.
