just spoke with my insurance, they said if the car is sorn with the dvla then there is no need to be paying insurance on the car, if this is the cas i'd only have to insure it for 6 months of the year, so in theory say £700 for the year, but only £350 for 6 months...!!!???

confused.com or have i just been paying way over the top...

catches fire (or more likely stolen) over those 6 months and you're screwed though?

Unlikely but... That's why we get insurance!

thats very true but what if it was covered under home cover... only a thought..

like you say fire or theft its always a risk,

tbh my car would be very noticable and wouldn't get far if stolen,

Hi,
You are more than welcome to give us a call for a quotation if you like. We have several schemes that cater for laid up cover.
Regards,
Dan.

All food for thought but what about accruing your years bonus?

Stevo all the above has crossed my mind in many occasions but what happens come worst case scenario ie, gets pinched or catches fire?

alright dan, i only live up the road from east winch, i know david pretty well too. all depends on prices and discount ;)

I remember getting a quote for for £175 for full 12 months on laid up cover but I was only after 6 months.

This is my intention pay for a 'normal' insurance policy only using this for 6 months then the other 6 months on a laid up policy. In regards to my no claims I plan on making this (touch wood) on my DCi which will be my daily.

Its something which I'm looking into at the moment in regards to my 6 month policy.... especially being 23 :(

Hurry up and get to 25 so you can whack it on classic insurance! A cheap way of getting there would be to commit some sort of financial crime, get a couple of years stir and boom, when you're out magically you're less of a risk and you'll be knee deep in 350 quid p/a insurance quotes.

I don't insure mine when it's off the road tbh! It's in a secure location and battery etc is disconnected! No need imo, but if it makes you feel safer, it's not much money!
