Something a little different...

All being well I'll eventually end up being in a position to buy something a bit better than the Smart car to sit alongside the V6.

Originally fancied a JL Wrangler Rubicon yet have spent hours looking at other options, especially during lockdown.

Fancied an Integrale rebuilt by Walkers to approx 70% rally spec, or maybe an AM Vantage V12, or maybe an older classic such as a XK 120 or XK 150. What put those out of the equation in the end was that I'd want to be happy to use said vehicle for 12 months of the year no matter what the weather plus the fact I only have enough garage space for one car and no drive so whatever it would be would be it would be parked off my property. I always seemed to come back to the Wrangler! Maybe realising that speed wasn't the main prerequisite as when the chance comes to buy one the V6 will be in for some big changes in the back half of the car.

Went up to Storm Jeeps a while ago as they sell modified ones and came away impressed, got to go out in one but it was only for 10 minutes. Anyhow, managed to get one from the Derby dealers today for 5 hours even with being totally being honest with then re not looking at buying one currently.

What an experience! I'd only buy a Rubicon so ended up with a yellow one, not my choice of colour but....what a car. For saying the Rubicon is about the roughest, toughest off roader you can buy, it's on road performance and its road manners were impeccable. Took it on the motorway thinking it might wander a bit but not a chance. No way fast but more than capable of holding its own without pushing hard ( 2.0L turbo petrol version). Then up into the Peak District so a chance to try on both A roads and back roads...it never felt out of place in the slightest.

At least my mind has been made up re what to get :approve:

Good choice, we will be buying another Wrangler in the future, my wife wants one now to commute 60 miles a day, but it won't do 57mpg that her current thing does.

I run a Ram 1500 Sport as my daily. It is on Lpg at 55p a litre doing around 20 mpg so over 50mpg equivalent! Maybe your wife should consider the5.7 hemi Jeep on Lpg! Performance with economy [cmilie=iconcheers.gif]

Never even heard of Rubicon, looks cool. Reminds me of a smaller Hummer.

Although all Wranglers are off road vehicles the Rubicon is the hard core version of them. Named after the Rubicon trail in the US.

If I were to buy today I think I'd go for the Granite Crystal colour.

Suspension lift, 35"wheels and bumpers would be changed so as to individualise it a bit.
