5 GT Turbo Solex 32 dis issues

Hi guys, you're all well.

Firstly, my carb is off a renault 5 gt but it's on my pinto. I've had it running before and it's been something tried and tested by others.

I cannot get the car to start. I've taken the carb apart, replaced all gaskets, needle valve etc from overhaul kit. Accelerator squirt is working as I can see it shooting fuel into throat when manually turn the throttle. Fuel is in the float chamber. If the missus sits in the car and I continually spray easy start in the carb it'll run. This leads my to think it's fuel delivery at fault? Perhaps issue jet needs replacing or mixture screw needs replacing. To be fair these are the only parts not been replaced.

I appreciate this isn't a standard set up but it has run before and any suggestions around the carb would be greatly appreciated.

Just for info, got fuel injection pump on there and malpassi carb regulator in there.

Cheers, Dave

I'm wondering if your timing is out that's all, I've had a few that will catch just on easy start but not on petrol and the timing was off.

the 32dis is pretty basic but the idle jet does clog up. try blowing it out, on the 5 I think 2.5 turns out on the idle adjustment screw gives a roughly correct setting for idle. But with a few pumps on the throttle should see enough fuel for it to catch and chug over for a few seconds.

Is the idle adjustment screw the same as the mixture screw in carb base?

I've checked my timing and everything is in alignment. Got a spark, getting fuel into carb, thoroughly cleaned the carb. Replaced air corrector jet, checked emulsion tube, changed main jet. That's why I started thinking idle jet or mixture screw as that's what's left

mixture screw can snap off in the base if screwed in too far. might be worth a look
Is there a way to tell. I've had it out and couldn't see anything obvious. If anyone knows the overall length I can measure it. If I took it apart again would I see the end of the screw protruding when all the way in? I can't see it

I've added some pics for reference. Idle jet seems ok. Held up to the light and can see through it. Rubber washer seems a bit crushed. Definitely a rubber washer here? Mixture screw o ring is also a bit knackered. You can see from the pic how far it protrudes when screwed in, does this look right? Throttle linkage is modified to fit pinto cable and linkage. Starting to grasp at straws here and wondering if the fuel has gone stale. Bet it's been in there for a couple years. Any help is always appreciated.

Cheers, Dave

yeah seals look a little tired. Could be the fuel in there too as suggested. Not sure what else it could be tbh.

I'd defianately check over all the ignition components too, for ref my 57 daupg9ne would start up on easy start but not on petrol, the plugs were 40+years 9ld and thick with oil, timing was miles out, points wernt set and everything was a mess. Refreshed everything and set it correctly now starts on the button with 6v

try an egg cup full down the carb and see if it fires? Have you checked the state of the plugs? depends on how much is in there. Fresh fuel will always be a good shout, as much as possible to get rid of the old stuff.
