Smokey Vee

Hello, Vee's now back on the road. Seems a little smokey on overrun? Any thoughts. Performance is fine, no issues at all, just smokey after a wee blast!

How many miles? smoke on overrun usually points to valve guides or seals but not until starship miles, has it been inactive for long? maybe the rings sticking, or poss guide seals gone baggy.
is the oil level too high? may cause it to blow oil through the breathers.
if thats all ok it might be a good idea to get the compression checked, or see if the plugs seem oily.
keep checking the oil for level going down, (using oil), also keep an eye on fuel consumption (overfuelling),
hope this helps.

You've mentioned everything i was thinking. Oil Overfill is top of my list at the mo, and yes it's sat from Sept till last wk inactive. Here's hoping it's not the guides, but it's on 42k...

Running well tho, and doing 30mpg on the dueller today at 85-90.

If you think it is the guides try bliping the throttle and blocking the throttle valve, 2000 rpm will do, ( a responsible adult will be reqd for pressing the gas pedal) you will also need to remove the breather and aux air pipe from engine side of throttle and temp block em off, use something like a plastic pad that wont get sucked in, not your hand! the increase in vacuum will draw oil down the guides if they are worn, giving more smoke, if unsure take to a garage. they will probably do the same.

I had my car smoking - it turned out to be the oxygen sensors but didnt come up on the OBD or any flashing lights, and mpg was good

There are 4 of them, the dealer checked on their computer and found 2 at fault

Replaced them all and no black smoke since, so could be this

It's not black smoke sir...But an interesting angle. CHeers
Quite right though it could be excess fuel, could be caused by o2 sensors, but remember if the eng temp sensor is faulty this also would send the o2 sensors out of range! the eng thinks its colder than it is, try my fix re the guides if this is a dead end get it scanned, and look at the live data, dont use a cheap code reader. also dont delete the codes till its fixed, these codes log the moment the fault happened and are very useful in obd mode, if you need more of an explanation, ring me, spike, 07889 153352, i will be happy to talk to you.
