Silver Quadra

Just a head gasket, i think dansam wants it, he was asking if the cam can be changed without removing the head, if it can i guess he won't need it but best to ask him.

Technically yea but what a pain in the ass. You would have to release all thr tappets.
That said if you undo the head bolts and don't disturb the head you could probable just torque them back down and not worry

OK done a little more to this.

I have installed my Forge front mount now. It took some fabrication to make it fit. I started by moving the radiator forward, and put the fans on the back, they will suck air instead of blow. Its bloody close to the alternator nut but should be fine.
Also had to modify the nosecone and upper crossmember.
Just looking for some hoses to complete the system.

Also I started on ripping the engine out of my black/red donor quadra, aim is to get the gearbox out of this to use in the silver quadra. Current gearbox has a crunchy 2nd gear, and I am hopeful that this one wont. Using the Delorean slave cylinder.
I will also be changing my subframe, wishbones, ball joints and anti roll bar - they have been powder coated and the subframe 'seam welded'. Powerflex bushes installed.

Just waiting on some hoses and a bottle of oxygen so I can crack on with oxy propane to get the ****er undone!!
Pics to follow, once I work out how to get my iPhone to talk to Debian 6.

Everyone NEEDS some of this!

Looking good Dan.....but will you/it be any quicker once finished + will it be ready in time for the Welsh meet...???

I think its going to be off the road for a while now tbh, just uncovered some rust so going to cut some sections out and repair it then respray the bay

well it could be worse, but I'd rather do it now with the bay mainly empty otherwise it will just carry on.

@Jo, every silver 21 I've ever laid eyes on, has had rust somewhere. Same with grey and blue. Black and red seem to be best.

Maybe it's the metallic in the paint?

My black one is quite rusty, and also metallic.. My point was that the black is metallic, but your theory of metallic cars rust still holds up.

Ok so my old man has been working on the car today along side me. He loves a bit of metal fab so left him to it on that front. I cut out and cleaned up the inner arch to him to tack up the replacement pieces hes made.
No pics yet, but so far we have replace a section of the inner arch which has the reinforcement for the bumper mount.

I decided to strip a load of stuff out as I had problems a while ago when fitting my aftermarket clutch system which resulted in a load of brake fluid down my bulkhead. Luckily the damage is not so bad, a good clean and degrease will be enough.

However we found some rust on the inside of the turret tops, so cleaned that out and will treat it. Also a crack where the power steering rack meets the inner arch, common. Will double plate that I think.
So with that to do I've decided to strip the bay and give it a repaint. Renew what I can and have it done once and for all.
Glad I started stripping it down now and not left it until it was too late, think we have caught it just in time..

I'm also changing the brake lines from steel to cupro nickel replacements.
