Shall I?

Hi,
I'm looking at this tomorrow:
http://www.pembertoncars.co.uk/listing/clio-v6/

I'm trying to find out build and reg but initial thoughts? It's been up for sale since July so I'm hoping for a little off, do you think £25k would be too cheeky?
Anyway, I'm an RS affectionado having owned 172 ph1, 172, 2x182 trophy and an RB R26.R full spec 800 miles......why did I ever sell that car!

Any advice and opinions would be a real help as I'm a 'need a push' kind of buyer.

Cheers
Neil

Hi and welcome Neil,

That car has been written off before, so I'd get it inspected before handing any money over. Quality of the repairs is key.

The car is [v6plaque]217[/v6plaque] there is a bit more info on it in our register.

By all means to go and see it, but make sure you view a few more before you buy one, you get to know what a good one looks like.

Sounds like your well versed with the brand, so you should know what to keep any eye out for.

Duncan

Hi Duncan,
Many thanks for the welcome and the advice.
That doesn't sound ideal! I have spoken to the seller/dealer and he assures me the searches came back clear but he is yet to inform me of the build number or reg so I'm growing ever dubious. Can I ask how you know this [v6plaque]217[/v6plaque]?
I'll try and get to view a few but I never seem to get the time hence the forum search for help.
I don't think I'll view this example if that history file is looming over it....back to the searches.

It's my mastermind specialist subject!
But in this case, the reg plate is also listed in the advert: BV54PZB

HPI active condition alert, has now been removed and documented for your peace of mind - great way to describe what might be the erasure of some undesirable history then ...

Oops! Can't believe I didn't see the reg [smilie=icon_eek.gif]
Surely the HIP alert can't be removed...can it? I have to say the dealer was very upfront, honest and sounded very genuine, I'd be very surprised if he wasn't telling the truth, but it's a lot of money to right-off-roulette with!
Avoid or pursue?

If the repairs are good and the price is right it wouldn't put me off. But I would get it checked out!

Autolign in wolverhampton used to be able to inspect previously written off vehicles and remove the HPI marker completely if the repairs were satisfactory and to original spec.
However, that ability was removed some years ago and they are now only able to reclassify as 'condition inspected' but the cat marker still remains.

Would you be happy owning a vehicle that has previously been crashed and repaired, the exact details of which you will probably never know? I personally wouldn't, as the unknown would always be in the back of my mind.

CAT repaired ph2's seem to be priced around the 18-20k mark and even then hang around as they are not for everyone. :)

I think I'll be leaving this one, I personally would never feel at ease with a car that had that story lurking between it's bolts.
Many thanks for all your help and if anyone is looking to sell their v6 ph2 anytime soon then please drop me a pm.
I suppose I better join :)
