Hi all, thought i would start a thread purely on my new little buisness venture. Im not trading just yet, but the intention is to become active in the next few weeks and officially offer my services. At that point i will look to become a trader with Admin :drinks.gif:

So what and who is RTS Motorsport Services. Well, my names Kevin Ratcliffe and im the Managing Director of my transport company RTS. Ive been involved in transport for 10 years, but prior to this I Graduated with a Degree in mechanical engineering. From the age of 18, of competed in motorsport at various levels. From trackdays to club sprints, MSA Sprints/Hill Climbs to Time Attack. Ive had great fun competing, and hope for it to continue! But one point that has always been the sticky point in my involvement is the cost involved and in some cases, being taken advantage of by unscrupilous traders with inflated bills and 'fabricated' issues which carried more expense!!

Well, my aim with RTS Motorsport Services is to try and provide services which prevent enthusiasts and competitors alike, from having to foot bills and expenses which could be avoided. Provide preventative measures to identify and hopefully avoid unwanted failures & damage with modest outlay so you hard earned can be spent on an extra tank of fuel rather than a recovery truck home.

At this point, nothing is set in stone, but what ive listed should hopefully give you insight into the service im aiming to provide.

TRANSPORT OF VEHICLE

As mentioned in a previous thread, im looking into providing a service where we can collect your car, and deliver it to wherever you wish. Whether it be your tuner of choice, its new owner or a trackday/event your involved in. The latter giving you piece of mind that should you suffer a failure, your at least getting home!! We would also look to provide you with access to essential tools throughout the day incase of any tweeks or repairs that can be carried out.

CAR INSPECTION

This pretty much speaks for itself. The inspection will come in one simple form....comprehensive. Its aim, purely to identify any issuse or potential issues before your event in order to give you time to rectify. Any issues found, would be outlined in a detailed report. I will NOT however be offering any repair services unless they are simple issues which can be rectified without need for specialist equipment or parts other than brakepads or discs.

CAR PREPERATION

This would be the same preperations i carry out on my own cars. I would look at possibly a 2 tier level here. Basic & Extensive. Basic incorporating an Oil & Filter change, Air Filter where applicable, Coolant top up and caliper clean to prevent sticking pads. Extensive Would be Oil & Filter Change, Air Filter, Bleed Brakes, Caliper Clean, Caliper Pin Re-Grease, Coolant Flush, Plug Gaps adjusted where required or replaced.

TRACKDAY/MOTORSPORT PRODUCTS

A few items which may of be interest to you guys. From Suits to Helmets & Gloves. Rollcages, Seats, Harnesses, Steering Wheels, Boss's, Fire Extinguishers etc

If you have any suggestions of feedback, please feel free to post it. Im here to listen to what YOU want and not what i think you want.

My Facebook Page is: RTS Motorsport Services feel free to like and share. I will make anouncements as they transpire

Thanks and good luck with your venture.

From an end user perspective, reputation is everything. Even if it costs you short term, keeping that intact is key!

Thats all I have to add really lol

-Someone who provides customer service that I dont have to chase and chase and chase for updates or to even get on the phone

-Someone who can tell me WHY as well as what needs doing

-Someone who is actually bothered about 'my' business, I might not be a big spender but my word of mouth might be.

Sounds common sense right? Here's some examples of the last few months.
I went around NINE bodyshops over a couple of days local to me for a significant job, if not the easiest. Thousands of pounds of work. Seven of them I was outta there in under five minutes, the other two I only had conversations as they were telling me to try somewhere else. Complacent, lazy twats.
My boss has spent a MONTH trying to find someone to paint-protect his Focus RS for a reasonable amount. It took him two weeks to even get a quote. He's opted for one of the two quotes he had to fight to get and thats more than the half-paint job on the car he just had done!!!
He also wanted a splitter wrapping for his V8 ultima (!). Five weeks on its still not done.
I travel sixty miles each way to a machine shop/engineer because he is very skilled, knowledgeable and does the things i noted above, and is very fairly priced.
I just gave a local bodyshop £400 to refurb a set of wheels because he does the things above and takes the time to talk to me like a human being (long story).
The last two also take cash (wink wink).

I could go on. Service levels in the industry are shocking and prices are astronomical. I begrudge giving anyone money to work on my cars, I havent paid anyone for work in years but the latest purchase demands specialist work so I have no choice. After the 9-bodyshop shocker I picked a specialist 70 miles away and dropped the car there thirteen WEEKS ago. They should have started work on it yesterday. If they havent, i'm going to post them some dog poo.

Dave..

Every point you make i think would be shared by just about every consumer in our market. Its the reasons and issues you mention, as to why im doing this. There are more companies who are interested in what you have in your wallet than those who are interested in you as a customer. I too have fallen foul of 'Rip off' companies and its for those reasons i put my engineering qualifications to use on my own cars. I didnt really have the time spare, so had to make the time. My other bug bearer was jobs being half done. Im a maticulous sod and like everything to be perfect!!!

The service im offering wont really lead to any further work. Its not what im setting out to do. I wont benefit from any problems or potential issues unless its a simple remedy like low pads or worn discs. Simple, generally trouble free repairs or fitments.

My aim in this is to keep you guys running. Offer my advice & opinion only. Im not here to make vast sums....not at all. Im in process of bringing brands on board to offer parts which are trackday orientated. Any profits i make will be modest and used to fund my trackday/time attack project. My living is my transport buisness.
