RS500 Style Intercooler and Spal Rad Fans/Brackets Groupbuy

I've been in contact with Nigel at Carrera regarding an RS 500 style intercooler for the 21 turbo.

The previous attempt for getting a group buy for these intercoolers can be read about on this thread.

It never went ahead and I feel this was down to the cost of the cooler even after the group buy discount.

Nigel can produce the intercooler for £285 including the vat and if a group buy can be put together a discount can be given.

I will update this post with the details of the percentage discount and numbers required when I get home tonight.
UPDATE: 15% discount offered on a group of 5-10. So £240 ish.

I've recently spoke to Nigel about producing some brackets to mount a pair of Spal fans to the standard radiator, as I want something better than the pin kits that go through the fins.
I will update this post with a picture of a similar bracket that is currently produced for the cosworth radiators.
UPDATE: Something similar to the picture below for the 21's radiator.

I have no details at the moment for these brackets so can't give a rough price yet, however I will send a radiator to Nigel soon so that he can produce a bracket and measure up what size fans would be best and give further details.

If you are initially interested in the intercooler and fans/brackets or just one of the products without the other please pm me or reply on here so that I can gauge interest. If there is a lack of interest I will have them produced for myself only.

The fans and bracket pictured above are produced by Pro Alloy for use on ford cosworths, the price for the fans and brackets is £163 including vat.

I will update when i have an idea on price for the fans and brackets.

With the fans included, thats a really good price mate. Can't knock it.

Karl Herrod runs a company called Custom Metal Solutions. He's done some quite frankly wonderful work for me in the past, although he is busy and you'd need a decent sized order to interest him I think. If you had the time and effort to spare (and its a right ballache) shipping fans from the states is cheaper than buying here if you're not too named-brand fussy as well, but like I say that Quote with the fans aint bad.

I would use members where possible and cheaper routes if it were as easy Dave, but it doesn't sound like it will be.

If this groupbuy goes ahead its simple, the participants pay Carrera themselves and Carrera send direct to the customer. Saves me collecting money, sending parcels out etc.

Thats very ceap for the fans - thought mine were good money 2x12" Spal for £70 each.

Incidentally, the pin type fitting kit works very well.......

Fans are 52mm thick Phil.

Got the update on the fans and brackets from Nigel.

He suggests using a pair of 11 inch fans as it would make the design of the bracket much easier, two 11 inch fans with straight blades will still flow more air than the standard 12inch fans. The final price for brackets and a pair of fans is £125. Call Carrera on 01284 388522 ask for Nigel and mention my name if you are interested in the fans and brackets.


I will be leaving the intercooler until the new year now as I will be taking my car upto Nigel for the positioning of the supports for it.

every one nows my radiator. I'm gonna cut the front end from the tungsten off and bring it to the guy that builds my rad's. I want a rad/ic pack for normal bump and for eu-bump. Hard line's on the standard connection (water/air). Will bring the grinded front end this week to him.

well ive ordered my fans so not bothered about the bracket going to go with the pins supplied for now!!
its the intercooler im really interested!!!
