rover 414 head bolts

hi ya, just done the head gasket on a rover 414 p reg! tightening the bolts how it says in manual, stage 1 15lbf ft stage 2 turn 180dgrees stage 3 a further 180dgrees, does anyone know what the final lbf ft torque setting should be after all 3 stages have been done?

It's irrelevant, the 180 degrees is geometrically worked out (pitch of the threads etc.) to produce a given stretch of the bolts. The initial 15lbft is just to seat the bolts evenly.

Also, you know what you're doing on that? Those K-series engines are pretty fussy about liner deck heights and all that crap. Get it wrong and you'll be doing it again soon enough!

no 'final' lb ft setting will be given - it is not measured at this point. The torque settings it tells you gets the bolts loaded to a certain amount, then the final angle tightening stretches them by the correct amount after that.

hence why you can't slacken or reuse head bolts, they'll be stretched past their elastic limit.

EDIT: Neal obviously on speed-typing
