Ross - My new 2002 Iceberg Silver Phase 1 - No 430

Fantastic looking car and great photos Ross. And I love your enthusiasm as well !

As Duncan says, the Vees handle very well up to pretty high speeds on the road in the dry, but I use a bit of caution in the wet and / or frost! A front wheel drive car is a lot easier to handle in the wet, and if you're not used to rear wheel drive with enough power to spin up the wheels, it will feel a bit odd and maybe a bit insecure, wet or dry. Perhaps a track day is required to know the limits of the car. Better to find out on a track than the road, and certainly something I'm planning on doing.

I think that for most folks though the Vee is all about the driving experience, the soundtrack and the looks. I've never had a car that has attracted so much positive attention, and is so much fun to drive. There are many faster cars when you look at things from a top trumps perspective, but that seems irrelevant when I'm driving my cars.

Carry on having fun, and you'll soon be leading the pack, not following

Great points there guys, thanks! The cars come out of storage so regarding tyres and pads, I bet you've both hit the nail on the head. The tyres aren't all that either, likely putting Continental Contact 5s on soon although still need to do some tyre research before I buy.

As you say though, its all about the noise and looks...will never get bored of it. If the oil ran out tomorrow and fuel was all gone, id still get joy from looking at it although id need to move the car into the living room somehow [smilie=thanks.gif]

Well Malton Big Breakfast is over, i'm rather disappointed to be honest. I've been going for a few years now, both April and October meets and i always see a small selection of Vee, usually a black P2 and Blue P2 without fail...and a yellow P2 once also.

Why is it that now i've finally got my own, no other Vees show up? I have a feeling of sourness, sort of like arriving to a party as everyone's leaving [smilie=icon_cry.gif]

None the less, representing on my own :

The blue Ph2 will have been mine, but I had to sell just over a year ago. Yours looked great though, you must have got there really early to get that spot!!!

If you ever fancy a blast out I'm just near the airport, and though Vee-less at the minute I've got a Trophy you can try and hang on to ;)

The black ph2 may have been me last year, couldn't make it this time though. Maybe it's time for a northern mini meet!

Hi all, update time.
My V6 now has some company, I picked up a 172 this morning (none cup...too old for that) in Monaco Blue.
Absolutely love it so far, unbelievably quick little things. I had a 197 cup and honesty thought this would be noticeably worse, could I have been more wrong? I couldn't believe how capable it is on the B-Roads round here in Sunny Yorkshire.
Driving it hard provides so much feedback, I never really saw that with the 197.

Also met up with Mick & Bev and their Phase 1, looked great too. I've got to say their number plate is probably as good as you'll get for a Clio. We put a few miles on the cars that day, good fun. Owning a V6 in the summer is such a privilege...atleast for now anyway (before service and MOT in September).

Last but not least, 10 points to the one who guesses what's in the foreground of the last picture :)

Anyway, enjoy the photo's, best emote ever :pod:

Hi All,

My phase 2 spoiler is now fitted, I really think it finishes the back end off just nicely.
Also I had more painting done at the body shop whilst it was there, dash surround, door grabs, centre console...nice lovely smooth none grubby none waxy paint [smilie=yay.gif]
Until next year when its front and rear bumper respray, the cars finished now.

My friends trying to talk me into having it wrapped but I'm not sold on the idea

A few photo's of a recent photography session a friend did for me as I suck at taking photo's, I'm having a few of the 200 odd photo's he took put on canvases for home, dedicated!

Also during my cycling last Saturday (54 miles, flex!), i saw this beauty. I've never jumped off my bike so fast, couldn't miss the picture.

On the short list, MOT 5th September, providing that's not £1500 like last year, Santa is bringing me two Recaro Treatlines for Christmas this year. The car will then be sorn at the end of September for the winter. Also a trip to the bodyshop once its back on the road in April/May time (weather depending). Re-spray Front bumper, front wings, rear bumper, drivers door adjusting as the bodyworks sticking out about 6mm ish, the windscreen seal on the drivers side refastening and finally the calipers possible repainting in red with new AP Racing graphics added. Last year i had the rears refurbished by Dryclough which they sent out for shot-blasting. If you look carefully at the above picture youll see part of its actually a gold colour rather than red. Obviously im just waiting till Rick says i need the fronts doing aswell before i have all four repainted red.

[mention=1832,#000000]BREMBO[/mention], no its an ebay replica of the trophy (182) spoiler from Italy. I'm half tempted to get a V6 trophy spoiler replica as i'm starting to warm to those a little more again. I really wanted one till i saw a certain yellow phase 1 and liquid phase 2 at SIlverstone (no names mentioned wink wink), i dont know why but the crazyness put me off a little but as i say, i'm starting to warm back up to them now. I figured as i'm clearly struggling to decide, having both means i can change back if i ever get bored etc.

Anyway last but not least, back to the Recaro Treadlines....has anybody ever fitted them in their phase one and is there anything i should know before hand? If anybody even dares mention Sportsters being better, read my post regarding 197 ownership. Anyway still loving the car, living the dream i really am.
