5 GT Turbo Roll cage for a special R5 GT turbo recommendations

Looking to put a cage in the Renault 5

Option 1.
Regular offering off the shelf and mod to suit mid engine layout

Option 2.
Full custom cage

Think more a turbo 2 cage in a GT turbo as the RS3 / DSG is in the back

I can sort the welding the cage together but no experience or knowledge in designing one and premium of supplier welding an option

Also looking if the cage hold the engine or custom subframe attached

All feedback welcomed as its time to finish house and kick this project off

You could easily chop about a gtt cage to fit however they are thin on the ground these days so would probably need to buy new. Might be worth considering a custom cage as probably not a lot more than a new safety devices etc.

Yep certainly have not seen for sale in recent months. If having to buy new custom makes far more sense, the car has a rear safety devices cage in already and 2nd hand route just saves a chunk of cash in the 1st phase of the build

It's not a track car so will need to be mindful of daily use and comfort factor

Anyone had experience with cage suppliers - custom cages etc

Having driven it, I would spare no expense on a cage because it WILL try and stick you in a ditch.

DJM that did the EVO5 would be where I would start.

It will be a very different setup to when you drove it last Dave and while it will ALWAYS be a handful have good plans to keep it in check

If you have a safety devices rear i would just add to that to be honest. Get the front section and your away, add other little bits if needs be

That's certainly the cheaper option!

I want to tie the front cage into the suspension turrets and cross frame the old engine bay with fuel tank amongst other things

Will have to see what's about and play man maths

Keep the door bars removable and it will be a nice road friendly cage

Going to enquire about cost of just the front section alone of a safety devices cage as struggling with 2nd hand one atm

As I have the tea already, will add to it is my thoughts atm
