Dont bother converting the AC to R143A - it wont work very well. Use LPG gas from a propane BBQ bottle.
Yes, you read correctly The R21 system will require about 280 grams. It will give you a very cold system, and places less stress on the compressor than 8-900 grams of R143A

Nonsense. You happily drive around with 70 litres of petrol, or people with LPG conversions are not scared of 100 litres of LPG in the boot, why would you be bothered by a couple hundred grams?
http://hychill.com.au/ This a propane/butane mix that is odourised and dry. I have it my R21 and Laguna, and it works better than the R12 the R21 had, and the R134A the Laguna had. Our summers demand really cold AC!!!
But nice Turbo - if I ever imported one to Oz, it would be an AC equipped one like yours (except they are bloody rare in right hand drive....:icon_sad.
I have manual AC on mine, doesn't work though.. The control unit is fubar'd and the pipe work to the condensor and also the condensor needs to be replaced. Would be awesome to get it working again!

It gets hot about 10 days a year up hear :icon_lol:
For those days I would like to have it working! And since it was never sold here it is a belgian or german import, haven't got a good answer on that, but it doesn't matter much to me.. :icon_rolleyes:

Its all in what youre used to. 25 degrees is hot to most northern europeans, but just enough to get me wearing shorts. 45 is hot... (and the R21 AC was still able to cope - mostly:icon_wink
